Mastercard Expands Payments Through BVNK
BVNK enables companies to convert, hold, move, and store fiat and digital money. Its infrastructure works behind the scenes of international payments.
The integration of its native technology will support faster cross-border B2B payments, treasury flows, and settlements for banks and fintech companies.
Mastercard Chief Product Officer Jorn Lambert addressed the shift toward multiple forms of money. He said fiat currencies, stablecoins, and tokenized deposits must work together in a multicurrency world. Lambert said the leading company will connect those networks most efficiently.
“By combining Mastercard’s global network with BVNK’s on-chain infrastructure and stablecoin-native technology, we can deliver a more efficient, trusted and seamless payment experience,” said Jorn Lambert.
The acquisition also intersects with the Ripple ecosystem through BVNK’s existing operations. BVNK’s official technical documentation lists XRP as a supported asset. Its multichain system natively processes incoming XRP deposits and outgoing payments.
BVNK and Ripple began their collaboration in 2024 when Ripple was planning to issue its RLUSD stablecoin. The stablecoin was created as an institutional offering. Standard Custody executives later identified BVNK as a key partner in the business-to-business-to-consumer segment.
How Mastercard Programs Link Ripple and BVNK
Ripple creates the institutional B2B product, while BVNK brings necessary liquidity to consumers. The companies have no disclosed exclusive agreement.
However, both belong to the corporate payments market segment and share connections through some common industry-related programs.
Both companies are members of Mastercard’s Crypto Partner Program. Program participants work on the future products built using the blockchain. This affiliation means that both Ripple and BVNK are part of the same extended network developing digital payments.
Furthermore, Ripple and BVNK participate in the development of Mastercard’s Multi-Token Network infrastructure.
Ripple previously became a member of Mastercard’s CBDC Partner Program. Through these programs, both companies become linked to different payment programs of the global payment network.
Ripple has described stablecoin growth as a rising tide that lifts all boats. With the sector expanding, The payments giant now snaps up BVNK’s payment technology. This acquisition boosts its positioning in linking traditional financial rails with digital asset infrastructure.
