Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company (Metrobank) has eliminated transaction fees for domestic fund transfers via the InstaPay and PESONet networks effective July 9, 2026. According to a social media update monitored by Digital Banks PH, depositors can now access zero-fee electronic fund transfers across both local retail networks. The new policy replaces Metrobank’s previous reduced rate of ₱8 for InstaPay and ₱50 for PESONet transactions. Broader Banking Sector Trend

Metrobank’s adjustment follows a wave of digital transfer fee waivers across major commercial and state-run banks in the Philippines. These consecutive pricing cuts began after the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) lifted its five-year moratorium on electronic payment pricing under BSP Circular No. 1238.

Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) initiated the trend by permanently eliminating transaction fees for both InstaPay and PESONet transfers on July 1. Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. (RCBC) updated its transaction structure on July 4, providing 30 free monthly InstaPay transfers via RCBC Pulz alongside unrestricted free transfers through its financial inclusion app, RCBC DiskarTech.

Additional Adjustments by Industry Peers

Other financial institutions implemented similar policies earlier in the week. State-run Land Bank of the Philippines (LANDBANK) and Union Bank of the Philippines (UnionBank) both removed their respective digital retail transfer fees on July 7.

Additionally, Philippine National Bank (PNB) announced that it will waive transaction fees for domestic transfers via the PNB Digital app beginning July 10, as part of its upcoming 110th anniversary.
