Another Sunday and another tricky NYT Connections to solve. If you’re looking for help with today’s puzzling NYT Connections puzzle, this guide is here to help with some extra clues and every connection for the Yellow, Blue, Green and Purple groups.

Below, we’ll get into some extra hints for each Connections group – Yellow, Blue, Green and Purple – and then the official clues and answers.

What Are Today’s Connections Answers?
- The full-on answers are below for each group, finally inserting the four words in each category. Spoilers follow. The Connections answers are:
- 🟡Yellow group – droopy, flaccid, sagging, slack
- 🟢Green group – cleveland, garfield, grant, madison
- 🔵Blue group – empty, excess, kewpie, odie
- 🟣Purple group – doublespeak, heathcliff, paramount, porridge

Today’s NYT Connections is a 4/5 on the Connections Bot difficulty scale and it definitely had some tricks up its sleeve. I immediately grouped the most obvious red herring: Garfield, Heathcliff, Odie and . . . well actually, I had no idea so I tried Kewpie and got it wrong. Not even “one away.”
That was enough info to realize it was a misdirect. No cartoons about cats today, but Garfield was a president and so is Cleveland (another animated character) and Grant and Madison. Sure enough, U.S. Presidents were the green group.
Yellow was more obvious with a few words out of the way. Droopy, Flaccid, Sagging, Slack . . . quite the images those words slough up. At this point, I looked to the ends of words, because often the connections hide in either the beginning or ends of longer words. There was cliff, there was mount, there was ridge and peak. Sure enough, HeathCLIFF, ParaMOUNT, PorRIDGE, and DoublesPEAK were all geographic high points, or “elevated landforms” as it were.
That left me with Blue and I plugged them in before realizing their Connection. Each sounds like two letters. M – T / X – S / Q – P / O – D. It’s so obvious in hindsight.
