POSCO International (KRX: 047050) and LG CNS (KRX: 064400) have chosen Injective, a Layer 1 blockchain, as the foundation for tokenizing trade receivables in a new proof of concept (PoC). The initiative aims to transform global trade finance by combining blockchain, AI, and cloud technologies. This move underscores the growing institutional shift toward blockchain for real-world asset tokenization.

The PoC focuses on digitizing trade receivables—money owed but not yet paid—through tokenization on Injective’s blockchain. The shared ledger standardizes transaction data across POSCO International’s global subsidiaries, eliminating the inefficiencies of reconciling separate systems. AI agents further streamline operations by automating document reviews for trade compliance.

The Role of Injective

Injective (INJ)was selected for its built-in compliance features, including KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and permissioned asset management. These capabilities are embedded at the protocol level, ensuring regulatory alignment across jurisdictions without requiring additional layers of software. Unlike most blockchains, Injective enables tokens to carry compliance rules with them across transfers, a critical requirement for institutional implementation.

Injective’s financial focus is also notable. The network offers sub-second transaction finality, native interoperability with Ethereum and Solana, and has recently launched a real-time EVM-compatible mainnet. These attributes make it a strong candidate for high-frequency, high-value financial applications like trade finance.

Why Trade Receivables?

Receivables represent untapped capital in global trade. The time lag between invoicing and payment ties up liquidity, often for weeks or months. Tokenizing receivables on a blockchain allows companies to digitize, transfer, and settle these assets in real-time. For POSCO International, whose annual revenue exceeds $22 billion across 80 subsidiaries, the ability to unlock capital faster could significantly boost operational efficiency.

By consolidating receivables into a shared ledger, the PoC eliminates the need for manual reconciliation and ensures all parties operate from a unified data source. Settlement times are reduced from days to seconds, a critical improvement for cross-border trade.

Strategic Implications

POSCO International, South Korea’s largest trading company, has been at the forefront of supply chain innovation. From issuing blockchain-based digital bonds in April 2026 to its $200 million rare earth venture in the U.S., the company has consistently explored digital transformation. Partnering with LG CNS, which has built blockchain infrastructure for Korea’s CBDC pilot and security token platforms for Mirae Asset Securities, signals a strong push toward institutional-grade blockchain adoption.

LG CNS, which posted annual sales of 5.6 trillion won, brings a robust track record in enterprise IT and blockchain. Its selection of Injective for this PoC highlights the protocol’s growing credibility in institutional finance. Notably, Tiger Research recently called LG CNS the leading candidate to manage Korea’s blockchain infrastructure contracts once regulations stabilize.

Looking Ahead

The PoC is currently live, using POSCO International’s real trade flows and Injective’s blockchain for the receivable layer. If successful, it could set a blueprint for digitizing global trade finance on blockchain, with potential expansion across POSCO and LG CNS’s extensive networks.

For Injective, this marks a milestone in its evolution as a financial blockchain. As institutions increasingly turn to on-chain solutions, the ability to meet high regulatory and operational standards could position Injective as a preferred network for tokenizing real-world assets.
