SK Telecom Plans 2027 AI Factory Launch

SK Telecom plans to build the AI Cloud in Korea using Nvidia’s DSX platform. The first AI factory under the project will come online in 2027. The infrastructure will support training, inference, and agentic AI workloads.

The companies said the project will serve enterprises and industries across Korea. The platform could later expand into other Asian markets. SK Telecom aims to support sovereign AI, physical AI and enterprise AI services.

The partnership builds on Korea’s strong position in advanced technology. Korean companies already lead in telecoms, memory chips, robotics, mobility, and manufacturing. The project targets industries moving AI into secure production systems.

Nvidia DSX Platform Supports AI Cloud Buildout

Nvidia DSX will provide the software, hardware, and operating framework for the AI Cloud. The platform focuses on token performance, energy use, and production speed. It also supports large AI factories designed for heavy computing workloads.

The DSX system includes tools for lifecycle management, health automation, resiliency, and multi-tenant operations. Nvidia says the platform helps cloud providers improve efficiency and operating margins. SK Telecom will also become an Nvidia Cloud Partner.

The partnership extends recent work between Nvidia and SK Telecom. SK Telecom has used Nvidia Omniverse libraries for digital twin work in semiconductor fabs. It also adopted Nvidia Nemotron datasets for Korea’s sovereign AI model project.

Nvidia and SK Group Expand AI Infrastructure Research

Nvidia and SK Group also plan joint research on next-generation AI factory architecture. The work will cover accelerated computing, memory technologies, and data center operations. Additionally, the companies will explore full-stack optimization for scalable AI services.

The research effort reflects the wider demand for AI computing capacity. AI cloud systems now support models, agents, enterprise tools, and industrial automation. Telecom networks are gaining a larger role in national AI infrastructure.

NVDA’s overnight rebound remained modest after a weak regular session. However, the SK Telecom deal added a clear infrastructure catalyst for Nvidia’s AI business. The 2027 factory target also gives the partnership a defined commercial timeline.
