Rarely does a week go by that sees Rihanna completely absent from Billboard’s worldwide rankings. The company introduced both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. in 2020, and since then, a number of superstars have held court without vanishing for very long. Some have done so with just one or two tracks, while Rihanna can often appear with half a dozen tunes or more, depending on what is going on in her world and the competition she faces on the busy lists.
This time around, multiple smashes by the Barbadian pop icon return together and help her improve her standing on some of the toughest rankings to rule published by Billboard.
Two Rihanna Hits Return to the Billboard Global 200
Two tracks by Rihanna – both featured on her decade-old album Anti – reenter the Billboard Global 200 this week, and they sit only a few spaces apart from one another near the bottom of the tally. “Kiss It Better” returns at No. 192, while “Love on the Brain” breaks back onto the 200-space roster at No. 199. Both songs have risen much higher on the ranking in the past. “Kiss It Better” has climbed as high as No. 90, while “Love on the Brain” previously reached No. 58.
Rihanna Fills Seven Spaces on One Global Chart
Rihanna currently occupies seven spaces on the Billboard Global 200. In addition to “Kiss It Better” and “Love on the Brain,” the superstar appears with “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Umbrella” with Jay-Z, “We Found Love” with Calvin Harris, “Only Girl (In the World)” and “S&M.”
Those latter five songs are also present on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., while “Kiss It Better” and “Love on the Brain” are missing from the related list. The Billboard Global 200 measures sales and streaming activity around the world, including the United States, while the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. removes American consumption from the equation.
“We Found Love” and “S&M” gain ground on both worldwide rosters this frame. “Don’t Stop the Music,” “Umbrella” and “Only Girl (In the World)” all move in the opposite direction, declining on the pair of tallies.
“We Found Love” Returns to an American Chart as Well
“We Found Love” also rebounds on a ranking focused specifically on listening habits in America. The Calvin Harris collaboration reenters the Dance Streaming Songs chart at No. 13. The comeback helps Rihanna double up on the genre-focused tally. “Don’t Stop the Music” holds at No. 7, just one space beneath its No. 6 peak.
