Ripple has announced strategic investments in ZILO and Licuido as the company expands its digital capital markets infrastructure on the XRP Ledger.
Ripple Adds Transfer Agency and Tokenization Tools
According to Ripple, the investments add regulated transfer agency, issuance, and collateral mobility capabilities to its institutional infrastructure. The deals build on existing partnerships with ZILO and Licuido.
ZILO provides transfer agency and fund administration technology for asset managers, custodians, and transfer agents. Its platform supports digital record-keeping for tokenized share classes as traditional funds move onchain.
Licuido operates a tokenization platform and FCA-regulated trading venue for digital ownership and asset liquidity. Its system supports issuance, distribution, execution, and collateral movement for traditional financial assets.
Ripple said the two platforms will support tokenized fund structures on the XRP Ledger. The company aims to connect issuance, custody, collateral use, multi-currency investment, and atomic settlement under one operating model.
RLUSD and XRPL Support Institutional Settlement
Ripple’s capital markets model uses RLUSD as the regulated cash leg for delivery-versus-payment transactions. Tokenized funds can also be used as collateral from the point of issuance.
Trades can settle atomically on the XRP Ledger, reducing the need for delayed settlement steps. The XRPL is designed for fast transactions, low fees, and financial use cases that need clear settlement paths.
Nigel Khakoo, Ripple’s senior vice president of trading and markets, said,
“Tokenization of assets is only the starting point: the real value lies in what can be done with a token, including buying, selling, and settling trades instantly, or using it as collateral to borrow, lend, or post margin.”
Khakoo also cited Ripple’s work with Aviva Investors, Franklin Templeton, and DBS. He said ZILO and Licuido provide regulated transfer agency infrastructure and liquidity for issuance and collateral mobility.
Phil Goffin, founder and CEO of ZILO, said fund managers need infrastructure that supports tokenized share classes without raising operational risk. He added, “Ripple’s investment enables us to accelerate that work by bringing digital market utility and efficiency directly into our platform for the institutions we serve.”
Brian Lynch, CEO and co-founder of Licuido, said tokenization alone does not solve the full liquidity challenge. He said Ripple’s backing helps Licuido scale its collateral marketplace on the XRPL.
XRP Ledger Operators Urged to Upgrade
The investment announcement came shortly after XRP Ledger developers urged node operators to install xrpld version 3.2.1. The request followed a validator manifest flood observed on July 31.
Ripple Director of Engineering Vijay Khanna asked operators to upgrade “as soon as possible.” Developers said the XRP Ledger continued closing ledgers normally during the event.
The available details point to pressure on node resources and peer-to-peer communications. Developers have not reported lost funds, altered transactions, or failed ledger consensus from the incident.
XRPL Node operators,
Please upgrade to 3.2.1 asap. It has a hotfix that prevents the manifest flood attack. https://t.co/MaB2UhMXwD— Vijay Khanna (@vjkhannaripple) August 1, 2026
The xrpld 3.2.1 hotfix limits how nodes process, store, and share data from unknown validator identities. The update adds safeguards around oversized manifests, untrusted message batches, unknown-key cache growth, and outbound sharing.
Node operators were also advised to restart after upgrading. A second restart helps clear unknown manifests that may have remained before the fix.
Ripple said the XRPL has processed more than four billion transactions since 2012. The network supports more than seven million active wallets and is maintained by 120 independent validators.
