Ripple is adding a new AI layer to its corporate treasury business, expanding the same platform that already allows enterprises to manage traditional cash alongside digital assets including XRP and RLUSD.
The company said Sept. 10 that it has expanded GSmart, its treasury-native AI system, across forecasting, liquidity, risk, reconciliation and reporting. The software is already in production across Ripple Treasury’s enterprise customer base and is designed to make recommendations without automatically executing financial actions.
Instead, deterministic systems perform the underlying calculations while AI interprets policies, identifies anomalies and explains recommendations. Human treasury teams retain final approval.
That governance model is the core of Ripple’s pitch.
Ripple cited Gartner estimates that the average Fortune 500 company could use more than 150,000 AI agents by 2028, while only 13% of organizations believe they currently have adequate AI-agent governance.
AI Is Being Added to Ripple’s Existing Treasury Rail
The more important context is that GSmart is not being launched as a standalone chatbot.
Ripple Treasury already combines traditional banking infrastructure with digital-asset accounts. Earlier this year, the platform added native support for companies to view, hold and manage fiat, XRP and RLUSD in a single treasury dashboard.
That enterprise platform grew out of Ripple’s $1 billion acquisition of GTreasury, which brought decades of corporate treasury infrastructure into Ripple’s broader payments and digital-asset stack.
The current Ripple Treasury platform says it connects to roughly 13,000 banks and handles about $12.5 trillion in payments volume, giving the AI rollout a significantly larger operating base than a typical crypto product launch.
Ripple says adoption has already moved beyond testing.
About 60% of eligible customers have enabled Risk Insights, which looks for exposure anomalies and policy breaches, while 44% use Forecast Insights to compare expected and actual cash flows and identify potential liquidity gaps.
GSmart also includes a policy layer called Knowledge Studio and an analytics assistant called Ask GSmart. Each agent is designed to cite the relevant policy rule behind a proposed action before sending it to a human for approval.
For XRP and RLUSD, the significance is indirect but important.
The AI update does not itself create new XRP demand. What it does is expand the enterprise software environment in which Ripple is positioning XRP and RLUSD alongside conventional cash, payments and liquidity tools.
That fits a broader shift already visible in Ripple’s corporate treasury push, where enterprises can manage digital and traditional assets inside the same workflow.
