TLDR

  • Ripple’s treasury minted 30 million RLUSD in a single transaction, continuing its recent stablecoin issuance.
  • RLUSD’s market capitalization stands near $2.53 billion, showing continued growth in Ripple’s dollar-backed token.
  • Ripple minted 59.5 million RLUSD across Sept. 21 and Sept. 22 through several large treasury transactions.
  • Treasury burns remain active, including the destruction of 29.85 million RLUSD on Sept. 22, showing that minting does not equal permanent supply growth.
  • The latest RLUSD mint follows a month of heavy treasury activity, including about 143.1 million RLUSD minted on Sept. 1.

Ripple’s stablecoin treasury minted 30 million Ripple USD in one transaction, extending recent RLUSD mints tied to issuance activity. The transaction comes as RLUSD’s market value stands near $2.53 billion as of Oct. 7, based on CoinGecko data.

RLUSD Mints Continue Across Treasury

Ripple has recorded several large treasury transactions since September. On Sept. 21, the treasury minted 20 million RLUSD, then added another 20.5 million tokens later that day. Another 19 million RLUSD entered the treasury on Sept. 22. Those transactions brought reported minting across the two days to 59.5 million RLUSD.

Minting does not always create a permanent rise in circulating supply. Ripple also burns tokens when customers redeem RLUSD and receive fiat funds. Separately, XRP Ledger Smart Escrow testing moved closer to launch this week. These treasury movements reflect how a fiat-backed stablecoin adjusts supply. New tokens can enter circulation after customer deposits, while redemptions can reduce supply.

On Sept. 22, the treasury burned 14.9 million RLUSD and another 14.95 million RLUSD. The two transactions removed 29.85 million tokens that day. A large mint alone does not show how much new RLUSD ultimately stays in circulation. That distinction matters when tracking daily treasury data because mint and burn transactions can occur close together.

Ripple Handles Customer Issuance and Redemptions

Ripple’s documentation states that institutional customers can obtain RLUSD after depositing fiat. Ripple then issues matching tokens, while redeemed RLUSD returns to the treasury for burning.

Earlier activity also showed large RLUSD mints. The treasury minted 10 million RLUSD on Sept. 11, while total XRP Ledger minting reached about 21.9 million. Ripple joined OKX’s latest funding round this week as both companies expanded their financial technology operations.

RLUSD activity was even larger at the start of September. The XRP Ledger recorded around 143.1 million RLUSD in mints on Sept. 1, making it one of the month’s largest issuance days. Ripple released 1 billion XRP from escrow on October 1 under its regular monthly schedule.

The latest 30 million RLUSD transaction therefore follows a month of frequent issuance and redemption activity. RLUSD mints remain part of Ripple’s treasury process as customer deposits and redemptions move through the stablecoin system.
