Wealth-focused market connoisseur Kamilah Stevenson says the XRP Ledger has crossed one million machine-to-machine payments involving AI agents, a milestone she presents as evidence that automated software is already using blockchain rails to settle small transactions.
Dr. Stevenson argues that the development matters because AI agents—software designed to complete tasks without step-by-step human supervision—will need to purchase computing power, data and digital services on their own. In that model, payments must be fast, automated and cheap enough for transactions worth fractions of a cent.
A machine-payment use case, not an institutional promise
“Machines are paying each other right now on the ledger,” Stevenson said, describing the reported payments as settling within seconds and without a person approving each transaction. She contrasted that with conventional payment systems, which typically depend on card details, billing addresses, human authorization and slower settlement processes.
Her broader point is that XRP Ledger adoption should be judged by activity rather than partnership announcements or institutional speculation. “This is not potential. This is usage,” she said, arguing that recurring machine demand could be more durable than market interest driven by price cycles.
Artificial intelligence growth could test settlement networks
The thesis rests on a plausible industry trend: autonomous AI systems may increasingly need to acquire services from other software systems. If that activity expands, networks capable of handling low-value, high-frequency transfers could gain a practical use case beyond trading and remittances.
But the competitive field remains broad. Stablecoins, traditional payment APIs, layer-2 networks and other blockchain payment systems are also targeting programmable commerce. A million transactions would not by itself immediately establish sustained economic demand for XRP or prove that the XRP Ledger will become a dominant AI payment rail.
