Runway AI has unveiled Runway Agent 2.0, the latest iteration of its chat-based AI video creation tool designed to take users from concept to finished video within a single workflow. Introduced on June 25, 2026, the upgraded tool focuses on empowering marketers and creatives to generate cinematic, platform-ready content efficiently and at scale.

According to Aditi Poduval, part of Runway’s product team, Agent was conceived to “democratize storytelling.” The tool is particularly aimed at users who lack technical expertise but have a clear creative vision. By integrating video, audio, and images into a seamless timeline, Agent 2.0 enables the creation of multi-scene videos directly within the platform. This iterative, user-guided process turns loose ideas into polished media assets.

Kristian Muñiz, a member of the engineering team, emphasized that Runway Agent is more than a generative AI—it incorporates expertise from Runway’s in-house technical artists to guide users toward aesthetically consistent outputs. As part of the development, Agent was benchmarked against competitors by Physion Labs in its Arc 1.0 evaluation, where it ranked first for cinematic quality, coherence, and trust and safety.

Runway Agent 2.0 is particularly optimized for marketers, allowing tasks like ad variant generation, campaign iteration, and automated formatting for platforms such as TikTok, YouTube, and Instagram. Users can also upload performance data to inform new creative strategies—a feature bridging analytics and content creation.

One differentiator is its media-centric interface. Unlike chat-first AI tools, Agent prioritizes the visual output, presenting generated content in storyboard form for user feedback. Muñiz noted this approach allows creators to visually refine their ideas, making the process accessible without compromising on quality. The tool also supports multitasking, enabling users to move from AI-assisted generation to manual editing within the same session.

Runway AI’s broader strategy revolves around building tools for scalable creative workflows. Since its founding in 2018, the company has been a leader in generative video AI, releasing landmark models like Gen-4 in March 2025. Agent 2.0 builds on this legacy, aiming to become a “teammate” for users by integrating brand identity and offering tools for batch creation and task scheduling. Future updates will focus on improving contextual understanding and workflow customization, according to Poduval.

Runway Agent 2.0 reflects the growing demand for AI tools that accelerate content creation while maintaining creative control. As marketers and creatives seek new ways to scale production, tools like Agent are poised to play a central role in shaping the future of video storytelling.
