  • Samsung Electronics America said on 7 October that USDC transfers will arrive in Samsung Wallet in the last week of October, across 82 million compatible US Galaxy devices.
  • Users will be able to send USDC to crypto wallets abroad with no Samsung fee, or pay out to bank accounts in more than 60 countries in local currency.
  • Bastion runs the stablecoin accounts with Coinbase as sub-custodian, and Samsung says it is not a bank, money transmitter or custodian.

Samsung Wallet will let eligible Galaxy users in the US send USDC across borders from the last week of October, Samsung Electronics America announced on 7 October.

The feature will reach 82 million US Galaxy devices at launch, counting every compatible device, the company said. USDC is the first stablecoin the wallet will support, and it will appear as the default dollar option.

Access is limited to US residents aged 18 or older with a Samsung Account and a Galaxy device running Android 13 or later. Those users must also verify their identity and set up biometric authentication.

Two Ways to Send Money

The first route sends USDC to compatible crypto wallets overseas in seconds. Samsung charges no fee on those transfers, although the receiving wallet or exchange may charge its own.

The second route pays out to qualifying bank accounts in more than 60 countries, with funds arriving in the recipient’s local currency. That recipient needs no crypto wallet. Bank transfers carry fees that vary by country and amount, and the app shows the cost and an estimated delivery time before the sender confirms.

Bastion, a stablecoin custodian overseen by US regulators, runs the accounts behind the service. It has partnered with Coinbase as sub-custodian, and all USDC in Samsung Wallet will sit in Coinbase Prime Vault. Bastion holds a New York trust charter and has preliminary conditional approval from the OCC for a national trust bank charter.

Samsung says it is not a bank, money transmitter or digital asset custodian and does not hold customer funds. It said the launch follows the establishment of a regulatory framework for stablecoins.

The Solana Foundation said stablecoin supply on its network is up nearly 20% year on year. Solana has processed more than US$5.25 trillion (AU$7.56 trillion) in stablecoin volume in 2026, the foundation added.

The Sui Foundation said on 8 October that USDC is the only asset supported at launch and the SUI token is not. Sui’s gasless transfers, live since May, mean senders pay no network fee.

The launch extends Samsung’s partnership with Coinbase, which gave Galaxy users in the US access to Coinbase One in October 2025. Meta already pays some creators in USDC, one of the stablecoin payout pilots at Meta and DoorDash reported in May.
