Samsung is preparing to expand Samsung Wallet with stablecoin support, extending its mobile payment platform into blockchain-based digital transfers. The update will combine payments, rewards, and digital assets within one application for Galaxy users. However, the company has not announced supported stablecoins, launch timing, or technology partners.

Samsung Wallet expands digital asset capabilities

Samsung presented the stablecoin initiative during its Galaxy Unpacked event as part of its broader wallet strategy. The company aims to extend Samsung Wallet beyond traditional payment services. As a result, Galaxy users will gain access to blockchain-based digital value transfers through the application.

The planned feature adds another blockchain service to Samsung Wallet instead of creating a separate crypto product. Therefore, the application will continue combining payment cards, rewards, identification documents, and digital assets. Samsung has positioned the wallet as a central platform for everyday financial activities.

Samsung has not identified supported blockchain networks or specific stablecoins for the rollout. Likewise, the company has not confirmed regional availability or launch dates for the feature. Even so, the announcement signals another expansion of blockchain functionality across Samsung’s mobile ecosystem.

Samsung builds on earlier blockchain partnerships

Samsung has steadily expanded crypto-related services through partnerships and product updates over the past year. In October 2025, the company integrated Coinbase services into Samsung Wallet for United States Galaxy users. Consequently, eligible customers gained the ability to purchase cryptocurrencies directly through the application.

The initial Coinbase rollout targeted more than 75 million Galaxy users across the United States. Samsung and Coinbase also outlined plans to expand the service into additional markets over time. Furthermore, the partnership included promotional benefits for eligible new customers using Samsung Wallet.

Samsung has continued expanding financial services alongside blockchain features within the application. The wallet already supports payment cards, loyalty programs, and digital credentials for everyday use. Additionally, the recently introduced Galaxy Card strengthened the company’s connected financial ecosystem.

Samsung strengthens its wider blockchain strategy

Samsung has also increased its presence in South Korea’s digital asset sector through strategic investments. In May 2026, Samsung Securities, Samsung SDS, and Samsung Card acquired a combined four percent stake in Dunamu. The transaction covered approximately 1.39 million shares valued at about 612.8 billion won.

The investment aligned with South Korea’s preparations for stablecoin and digital asset legislation. Samsung Securities outlined plans involving tokenized securities and digital asset services with Dunamu. Samsung Card explored digital asset payment services and potential won-backed stablecoin initiatives through Monimo.

Samsung SDS also planned to combine cloud, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity capabilities with Dunamu’s blockchain infrastructure. However, Samsung recently distanced itself from Open Standard’s proposed OUSD stablecoin consortium. Instead, the latest announcement centers on integrating stablecoins directly into Samsung Wallet while the company continues expanding blockchain services across its mobile ecosystem.
