Saylor’s Orange Message Puts Another Bitcoin Buy in Focus
Strategy could be stacking more bitcoin after Michael Saylor, executive chairman of Strategy Inc. (Nasdaq: MSTR), shared its acquisition chart on X on Oct. 4. His latest message accompanied the familiar orange dots marking past purchases, hinting at another addition to the company’s holdings.
Saylor wrote:
“More orange than ever.”
The accompanying purchase history lists 116 purchase events, a $75,437 average cost, and tracker-reported appreciation of 12.65%, or roughly $8.12 billion. Those displayed gain figures differ from a calculation using the official aggregate acquisition cost. A subsequent corporate disclosure would establish any new transaction.

Two Weekly Purchases Set the Stage for Sunday’s Teaser
The latest wording follows a similar orange-themed signal shared Sept. 20, when the disclosed balance stood at 845,050 BTC. The next day’s filing reported a 950 BTC acquisition for $75.7 million, lifting the total to 846,000 coins.
A week later, the same pattern repeated as another Sunday teaser preceded a formal transaction update. Saylor’s “Even more orange” message appeared Sept. 27, alongside a graphic valuing the then-disclosed holdings at $71.81 billion. That value reflected the market price at the time of the snapshot.
The company disclosed its $142.7 million bitcoin acquisition on Sept. 28, covering 1,665 BTC bought Sept. 21-27 at an average of $85,681 each. Fees and expenses were included. Total acquisition cost reached $63.95 billion, funded in part through common shares, or ordinary ownership shares.
How Financing and Price Changes Shape the Reserve
Those share sales connect accumulation with the financing decisions behind a bitcoin corporate treasury. Issuing new stock raises money for purchases but can reduce existing investors’ proportional ownership. The Sept. 28 filing identified these proceeds as the source of funding for that week’s BTC acquisition.
Management also balances investment capital with cash needed to meet obligations under its framework for financing and dollar payments. As of Sept. 27, the business maintained a $5.02 billion reserve for preferred dividends and debt interest, plus $1 billion in separate cash available for treasury purposes.
Price movements can alter the portfolio’s value even without further buying, as illustrated by a conditional $161.8 billion treasury scenario from Adam Livingston, vice president of investments at treasury operator Strive. His calculation assumes gold reaches $4,760 an ounce and bitcoin regains a ratio of approximately 40.1 ounces of gold per coin. Those conditions imply a price near $190,858.
