Shawn Mendes sees two older hits — “Treat You Better” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” — reach new peaks on both of Billboard’s worldwide rankings this week. Throughout his career and since Billboard introduced two related worldwide rosters, Shawn Mendes has racked up double-digit wins on both the Billboard Global 200 and Billboard Global Excl. U.S. The first ranking looks at the 200 most popular tracks of any style or language throughout the world, while the latter does essentially the same, except streams and sales originating in America, which help build the Billboard Global 200, are completely left out of the calculation of the other roster.
Mendes is up to a dozen wins on the Billboard Global 200 and just one fewer on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. This frame, two of his smashes are present on both rankings. Not only do his hits hold on, but every piece of music from the Grammy nominee that can be found on either roster climbs to new highs.
Two Shawn Mendes Hits Reach New Billboard Peaks
“Treat You Better” and “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” both establish new peaks on the Billboard Global 200 this time around. The former rises from No. 69 to No. 62, while “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” surges from No. 140 to No. 111.
The same pair also ascends to new highs on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. as well. “Treat You Better” improves from No. 44 to No. 37 – becoming a top 40 smash – while “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” jumps from No. 106 into the highest half of the roster, settling at No. 88.
“Treat You Better” Passes Another Shawn Mendes Smash
Before this week, “Treat You Better” had climbed as high as No. 68 on the Billboard Global 200. That placed the hit just one space beneath where “Señorita,” Mendes’s collaboration with then-girlfriend Camila Cabello, topped out.
Now, as “Treat You Better” ascends to No. 62, it passes the Grammy-nominated duet by several spaces. Even as the single reaches a never-before-seen high point, it does not improve its standing within Mendes’s discography by surpassing any of his other higher-charting wins.
“There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” similarly improves its peak as it reaches No. 111, but the tune does not pass any of Mendes’s other smashes in terms of lofty positioning.
Shawn Mendes Extends His Longest Run on the Global List
On the Billboard Global Excl. U.S., “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” extends its run as Mendes’s longest-charting hit. The single has now spent 114 weeks somewhere on the 200-space tally.
The track has spent considerably less time on the Billboard Global 200, where it reaches 50 frames this week – just under a year. On that ranking, “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back” trails “Señorita” by several months. If the latter returns at any point, it will become Mendes’s second song to make it to 100 weeks on the Billboard Global 200.
“Treat You Better” Is the Singer’s Most Recent Global Debut
“Treat You Better” stands as Mendes’s most recent debut on both of Billboard’s worldwide songs rankings. The years-old smash arrived on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S. in May after finding new life with listeners around the world.
The following month, “Treat You Better” reached the Billboard Global 200 as its viral surge continued. It has now spent 14 weeks on the more all-encompassing ranking and 17 on the Billboard Global Excl. U.S.
