The road ahead for Shiba Inu appears to be getting clearer, with a longtime SHIB community figure suggesting that the project’s long-awaited spot exchange-traded fund (ETF) ambitions may be closer to becoming reality.

While acknowledging that SHIB does not yet have its own U.S. spot ETF, Shiba Inu Eternity advisor Mazrael highlighted regulatory and market developments involving the asset across the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Canada. He suggested that these milestones could represent important steps toward SHIB eventually reaching the ETF market.

From Europe to the U.S.: SHIB’s Road to a Spot ETF Takes Shape

Mazrael says Shiba Inu is steadily expanding its presence in regulated investment markets, strengthening the memecoin’s prospects for wider institutional access.

Mazrael shared the update after a member of the Shiba Inu community asked about the chances of SHIB eventually securing a spot ETF in the United States.

Mazrael noted that SHIB is among the cryptocurrencies listed as eligible for T. Rowe Price’s TKNZ, which received U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) approval in June 2026. However, Shiba Inu was not included in the fund’s initial holdings.

T. Rowe Price’s S-1 filing states that TKNZ is an actively managed crypto basket designed to hold between five and 15 assets. At launch, the ETF held Bitcoin, Ethereum, BNB, Solana, XRP, Chainlink, Dogecoin, and Cardano. Notably, SHIB was not among the assets held, despite being listed as eligible for inclusion.

SHIB Makes Further Inroads Into Regulated Markets Across Europe and Japan

In Japan, Laser Digital Japan, Nomura’s digital asset subsidiary, completed its registration in August to operate as a licensed crypto asset exchange service provider under the country’s Payment Services Act. The move could strengthen SHIB’s position in Japan, as the token is among the six assets the platform supports.

Meanwhile, Valour’s SHIB ETP is now live and tradable in Europe, giving investors another regulated avenue for exposure. SHIB has also gained access to Canada’s regulated crypto futures market, with Coinbase’s CFTC-registered futures arm offering SHIB among 23 available crypto futures contracts to eligible clients.

Mazrael also compared SHIB’s ETF journey to Dogecoin’s progress toward a dedicated spot ETF.

He noted that DOGE reached the dedicated spot ETF market ahead of Shiba Inu, while SHIB has taken a different route toward gaining broader regulated exposure.

Could a Spot SHIB ETF Unlock a Major Rally?

Although SHIB does not yet have a dedicated spot ETF in the U.S., Mazrael believes the developments so far indicate that the pieces needed for such a product are gradually falling into place.

“No ETF yet. But well on track,” Mazrael remarked.

That said, a potential spot SHIB ETF could become a powerful catalyst for the memecoin, opening the door to fresh institutional demand and broader investor access. If approved, the resulting inflows and renewed market attention could give SHIB the momentum needed for a significant price rally.

SHIB, currently ranked the 32nd-largest cryptocurrency by market cap, was trading at $0.000005537 at press time, according to the latest CoinGecko data.
