TL;DR:

  • The current Nakamoto coefficient of the Solana network stands at approximately 20 validators.
  • The current infrastructure integrates the Model Context Protocol (MCP) for native management via AI agents.
  • The alternative client Firedancer registered performance exceeding one million transactions per second in test environments.

Anatoly Yakovenko, co-founder of Solana, seeks to consolidate Solana’s Nakamoto vision through a long-term development strategy he recently presented. The executive draws a parallel with historical constitutional processes to point out that achieving maximum decentralization will require years of continuous technical development.

Right now, the network is in the stage of large-scale deployment of the Model Context Protocol (MCP). This tool allows artificial intelligence agents to analyze the blockchain and manage wallets directly.

However, the central objective outlined by Yakovenko points toward a radical increase in the Nakamoto coefficient. This indicator measures the minimum number of validators required to disrupt consensus or censor transactions. According to current network data, Solana’s score sits close to 20 validators. This level is constrained by concentration in data centers and geographic staking clusters.

Toward a standard of decentralization and institutional resilience

Anatoly Yakovenko stated that the new architecture aims to raise this metric to protect the network against external pressures. The initiative seeks to redistribute consensus power far beyond dominant validation firms.

In terms of performance and software diversity, the network previously addressed its technical bottlenecks with the Firedancer client. According to the protocol’s technical documentation, this development achieved hardware efficiencies of over one million transactions per second in simulation environments.

According to the analysis presented by the network’s co-founder, this update marks a strategic transition toward the institutional segment. The network aims to challenge Ethereum’s position regarding long-term reliability and network neutrality.

The next verifiable milestone within the ecosystem will be the progressive mainnet integration of the Firedancer client and the adoption of the MCP standard by active validators over the coming quarters.
