Soneium has adopted OP Enterprise’s fully managed service to support its tokenized IP strategy. OP Labs will oversee key chain operations under a 99.9% monthly uptime target, while Soneium keeps control of its roadmap, products, and network development.

The agreement was announced on September 30 during Soneium’s Korea Blockchain Week event in Seoul. Under the arrangement, OP Labs will support the sequencer, node infrastructure, monitoring, software upgrades, and incident response.

Soneium’s engineers will continue working on the network alongside the service provider. The company said the structure will let its team focus more closely on products linked to tokenized IP.

Why Is Soneium Expanding Its Tokenized IP Strategy?

Yuji Kumagai of Soneium Protocol confirmed that the network will still be developing its own technology. Also, the assistance of OP Enterprise in terms of their operations will enable the team to develop faster with respect to their “Onchain Entertainment,” starting from tokenized IP.

The number 99.9% is not the actual network performance record but just a contractual agreement for the month’s service level objective. The company also ensures 24/7 incident management support as per their SLA.

With regard to the infrastructure part of the collaboration, Jing Wang, CEO of OP Labs, confirmed that this was to ensure smooth operations while the development team concentrates on the products. This is because the network of Soneium was already using the OP Stack.

What Did Soneium Learn From Earlier Anime NFT Releases?

Soneium has seen the launch of blockchain products leveraging licensed entertainment properties. In March 2025, YOAKE and OpenSea introduced anime NFTs inspired by “The Seven Deadly Sins” on the platform.

This collection consisted of content from “The Seven Deadly Sins: Cursed by Light.” The minting of NFTs started on March 25 at 0.002 ETH each and lasted for 72 hours.

Startale helped with the licensing of the intellectual property used in this launch. Such collectibles are an earlier instance of licensed content going on-chain compared to the tokenized IP initiative of Soneium.

A representative of YOAKE Sota Moriyama mentioned at the time that more anime collectibles would be released soon. Thus, the earlier collections are useful in understanding the new initiative of Soneium.

Who Is Supporting Soneium’s Infrastructure Expansion?

Sony Ventures has invested $13 million in Startale Group via Sony Innovation Fund in January 2026. Prior to that, Sony Network Communications took part in the seed funding of $3.5 million in 2023 and an additional extension of $3.5 million in 2024.

Startale is an infrastructure partner of Soneium. The Ethereum layer-2 network was developed by Sony Block Solutions Labs and Startale based on Optimism’s OP Stack.

According to Startale, as of January 2026, Soneium has processed more than 500 million transactions since the launch of its mainnet. In addition, the company has more than 250 decentralized applications operating on the network at that time.

Such data demonstrate the size of the platform used to tokenize the IP of Soneium. It does not estimate the adoption of specific entertainment products.

In April, Startale announced its plans to incorporate privacy functionalities into its consumer app through Privacy Boost. The system, developed by Sunnyside Labs, is built for facilitating private transactions and shielding of assets without giving up control of users’ wallet keys.

The two companies claimed that Privacy Boost combines zero-knowledge proofs with trusted execution environments. The performance is under 500 milliseconds for proof generation and above 1,800 TPS.

Selective audit tools were also incorporated in this case. They can be considered alongside Soneium’s efforts in tokenizing intellectual property.

What Is Sony Bank Doing Separately With Stablecoins?

Furthermore, Sony’s strategy on digital assets has a separate US stablecoin effort in addition to Soneium. In December 2025, there was news that Sony Bank was planning on launching a dollar-backed token for payments and settlements on their gaming and anime services.

Sony Bank had also filed an application in October 2025 for a charter as a cryptocurrency bank via Connectia Trust. This banking effort is separate from Soneium’s work in tokenizing intellectual property as well as the OP Enterprise contract.

For Soneium, the current deal provides operational backing for its entertainment strategy. OP Labs will provide essential services while Soneium retains product control, making tokenized IP the first step in its on-chain entertainment strategy.
