Alphabet Inc. has placed SpaceX Stock firmly in the spotlight after disclosing a $94.1 billion investment in SpaceX in its latest quarterly filing. The total value was assessed as of June 30 and had a considerable contribution to Alphabet’s investment gains in the second quarter of the year. The disclosure followed SpaceX’s public market debut in June 2026.

Based on Alphabet’s disclosure statement with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, out of the total $94.1 billion investment in SpaceX stock, the company could not sell $80 billion worth of shares for some short time period, and the remaining could not be sold until late 2027. Based on the market capitalization of SpaceX, this investment is equivalent to a 6% stake in SpaceX, although Alphabet has not shared information on the exact percentage it holds and the acquisition cost.

Alphabet Strengthens Long-Term Bet on SpaceX Stock

Alphabet’s SpaceX investment extends beyond financial ownership and reflects a relationship developed over more than a decade. Google invested $900 million out of the $1 billion investment of SpaceX in a funding round in 2015, along with Fidelity. Over the years, both Alphabet and SpaceX have collaborated in cloud computing, satellite connections, and artificial intelligence infrastructure.

Alphabet and SpaceX further established their commercial relationship in 2021 when Google Cloud agreed to partner with Starlink for providing cloud services and installing ground stations using Google’s data centers. In June of 2026, Alphabet entered into an agreement with SpaceX valued at approximately $30 billion. Under the agreement, Alphabet would be paying SpaceX $920 million each month for the usage of AI computing infrastructure. As a result of this partnership, Alphabet secured more than 110,000 Nvidia GPUs until 2029.

Market Impact and Investor Focus Shift to Long-Term Value

Investment in Alphabet earned the company an astounding amount of $99 billion in gains in the second quarter, showing the rising significance of private and newly public technology firms in the balance sheets of firms. The disclosure has also increased investor interest in SpaceX Stock as ownership by institutions has become known after the public listing on the Nasdaq exchange.

Investment in SpaceX is still being done by Tesla, as it recorded a gain of $1 billion from its position in the second quarter. Despite the increasing involvement of institutions in the stock, SpaceX’s stock has declined by 27% since its public offering.
