Strategy has added 950 BTC for $75.7 million, taking its Strategy Bitcoin Holdings back to 846,000 BTC as of September 20. The purchase comes alongside a $174 million buyback of STRC preferred stock, while Bitcoin has climbed back above $83,000 amid renewed ETF inflows.

Strategy Bitcoin Holdings Return to 846,000 BTC in September
Strategy purchased 950 BTC between September 14 and September 20 at an average price of $79,670 per coin. The latest acquisition brings its cumulative Bitcoin cost to $63.80 billion, with an average purchase price of $75,416 per BTC, including fees and expenses. The company funded the purchase using its USD Cash balance rather than selling shares through its at-the-market offering.
The new purchase restores Strategy’s holdings to the 846,000 BTC level previously reached in June. Its official Bitcoin ledger shows holdings had fallen to 840,447 BTC in August before the company bought 4,603 BTC on August 31 and then added another 950 BTC this week. At 846,000 BTC, Strategy controls roughly 4% of Bitcoin’s 21 million maximum supply.

Strategy Spends $174M on STRC Buybacks Alongside BTC
Strategy’s capital allocation during the week extended beyond Bitcoin accumulation. The company repurchased 1,771,238 shares of its STRC preferred stock for $174 million, more than twice the amount spent on the latest Bitcoin purchase. No shares were sold through Strategy’s ATM program during the same period.
The company said $875.1 million remains available under its preferred-stock repurchase authorization, while another $1 billion remains authorized for MSTR common-stock repurchases. Strategy also used $57.4 million from its USD Reserve for preferred-stock dividends and interest payments.
This makes the latest update relevant not only to its Bitcoin exposure but also to how the company is managing its broader capital structure.
Bitcoin Rises 9.6% as Strategy Adds 950 BTC in September
Bitcoin has also strengthened during the period surrounding Strategy’s latest purchase. CoinGecko data shows BTC trading around $85.91K, up 6.5% over 24 hours and 9.6% over seven days, with a market capitalization of about $1.723 trillion and $40.575 billion 24-hour volume.

Institutional flows have shown a mixed but improving picture. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $450.4 million and $295.9 million in net outflows on September 15 and 16, respectively, before attracting $159.5 million on September 17 and $324.6 million on September 18. The rebound recovered part of the earlier withdrawals, providing additional context for Bitcoin’s recent price recovery.
Strategy Holds $6.09B in USD Assets After Purchases
Strategy ended September 20 with $5.04 billion in its USD Reserve and another $1.05 billion in USD Cash. Combined, those balances total approximately $6.09 billion, giving the company a substantial dollar-denominated pool alongside its Bitcoin holdings. The filing states that USD Cash can be used for Bitcoin purchases, reserve funding and other broader capital-management purposes.
The latest purchase therefore adds to Strategy Bitcoin Holdings while preserving a significant cash buffer for its preferred-stock obligations and future capital decisions.
The company’s next disclosures will show whether the 950 BTC purchase marks a return to more frequent accumulation or remains a smaller purchase following the larger August acquisition. For now, the data shows Strategy increasing its Bitcoin position while simultaneously allocating substantial capital toward STRC repurchases.
