Strategy Bitcoin Purchase Follows Another Major Acquisition

The new Bitcoin purchase is being made just one week after the firm made yet another major acquisition. The firm bought 950 BTC worth $75.7 million at the rate of nearly $80,000 per coin.

Prior to this acquisition, the company stopped adding Bitcoin to its portfolio for about three weeks starting in the latter part of August. The resumption of weekly purchases implies that Strategy has acquired more than 2,600 BTC from the past two acquisitions.

The latest purchases are another indicator of a significant distinction between some of the Strategy deals made early in the year. Strategy sold Bitcoin when its price was below $65,000, but the firm is currently making acquisitions at a price of over $80,000.

However, Strategy maintains its capital markets approach as a means of accumulating Bitcoin. In the recent reporting period, Strategy sold stocks of MSTR and partially used the proceeds for the acquisition of Bitcoin.

In addition to acquiring the Bitcoins, Strategy also bought back roughly $152 million of its own STRC preferred stock. Strategy maintains its cash reserves as well as manages its Bitcoins and preferred stocks.

Strategy Bitcoin Purchase Expands Corporate Treasury

Strategy has accumulated 847,666 BTC in its treasury, making it the biggest known corporate Bitcoin holding company. The Bitcoin investment policy of Strategy has also become one of the important factors influencing the market capitalization of the company.

MSTR has recently overtaken First Abu Dhabi Bank, which is the biggest UAE bank according to the market capitalization criteria. This makes the company one of the 400 most valuable publicly traded companies in the world.

The increase in the market capitalization of Strategy occurs amid the significant growth of Bitcoin since the summer months. Due to the high amount of BTC in the treasury of Strategy, changes in the market value of Bitcoin may influence the value of the company’s treasury.

Strategy Proposes Daily Dividends

In addition to the recently announced Strategy Bitcoin Purchase, the company has made proposals to alter the structure of dividends on its preferred stock.

Strategy has been looking forward to implementing a system of daily dividend accrual on all its preferred stocks, including STRC. The new system would allow the company’s stockholders to receive dividends each day of the year, including weekends and public holidays.

According to Strategy, this step could enhance liquidity and attractiveness for the company’s preferred stocks. Strategy expects that such a structure would also be beneficial for its capital strategy and help grow Bitcoin per share.

The proposal addresses securities favored by Strategy, such as STRC, STRF, STRK, and STRD. The voting on this proposal will be done by shareholders later this year.

For Strategy, the recent acquisition of Bitcoin and the dividend proposal are part of an overall strategy. The firm keeps using its common and preferred stocks for raising money and then uses some of that money for expanding its Bitcoin holding.

Thus, the new Strategy Bitcoin Purchase adds 1,665 BTC to the enormous company’s Bitcoin portfolio, while at the same time the company tries to invent new methods for managing its capital structure of preferred stocks.
