Strategy (MSTR) stock fell 4% last week after a warning that the company could be removed from an MSCI global index. Bitcoin traded near $81,000 on October 18, according to CoinGecko.
Michael Saylor posted on X that day, “We found room for more orange.” The post came with a chart of the company’s Bitcoin buying history.
The message gave no amount, no date and no confirmation of a trade. Strategy has not announced a new purchase this weekend.

The latest confirmed holdings come from the October 12 filing, which covers October 5 to October 11. They stand at 848,250 BTC, bought for about $64 billion at an average of $75,444 per coin.
What the latest filing shows
Strategy bought 250 BTC that week for about $21.5 million. The average price was $86,194 per coin, including fees and expenses.
The holdings equal about 4.04% of Bitcoin’s 21 million maximum supply. That figure uses the fixed cap, not the coins in circulation.
Most of the purchase was funded by about $21 million in sales of Class A common stock, MSTR. The other $500,000 came from company cash.
About $18.81 billion of MSTR stock remained available under the at-the-market program as of October 11. That is room to sell, not a sale that has happened.
At roughly $81,059 per coin, the holdings are worth about $68.76 billion. That is about $4.76 billion above cost, but it is not the same as net profit.
Another outlet put Bitcoin near $82,000, which would value the stack at about $69.6 billion. Strategy has kept buying through 2026, including during a pullback this month that briefly took Bitcoin below $80,000.
Saylor has teased buys before. On October 4 he posted “More orange than ever” when holdings stood at 847,666 BTC.
Preferred stock buybacks outsize Bitcoin buying
Strategy spent $192.4 million to buy back 1,932,145 units of its STRC preferred stock. That is about 8.95 times what it spent on Bitcoin that week.
STRC pays a variable dividend, which is an ongoing cost for the company. Buybacks reduce the number of securities that carry that cost.
About $354.8 million remains on the digital credit repurchase program. Another $1 billion remains on the MSTR common stock buyback program.
As of October 11, the USD Reserve held $4.88 billion and USD Cash held $640.5 million. Together that is about $5.52 billion, and the reserve is set aside for dividends and interest.
Strategy sold no STRC under its at-the-market program that week, and $17.51 billion remains available. A new filing covering purchases after October 11 will show whether Saylor’s post came before a real trade.
