Timing Your Next Investment Wisely

A crypto market analyst is pushing back against growing calls to aggressively buy altcoins, arguing that investors may still have plenty of time before the next major altcoin rally begins. While many traders believe the market has already bottomed, he said historical data tells a different story, indicating Bitcoin could continue outperforming before altcoins enter a full bull cycle.

Bitcoin Still Waiting for Confirmation

Bitcoin is trading around $63,000, fluctuating between $62,000 and $65,000 while hovering near its 200-week moving average at $63,500. Although this moving average has historically acted as a bear market support level, it is not a guaranteed bottom.

Since October 2025, Bitcoin has continued to print lower highs, meaning the broader bearish structure remains intact. According to the analyst, there is still no confirmation that the market has reached its final bottom. Rather than attempting to perfectly time the market, investors may be better off waiting for stronger confirmation instead of risking another 30% decline.

History Shows Altcoins Need Time

The current market is compared with the 2022 bear market. Bitcoin bottomed near $15,500 in November 2022, while most altcoins reached their lows a month later in December 2022.

However, what followed was even more important. Using the Total3 index, which tracks the crypto market excluding Bitcoin and Ethereum, the analyst showed that altcoins spent nearly 10 months moving sideways before finally breaking higher around October 2023.

Instead of immediately entering a bull market, altcoins remained locked in a long accumulation phase despite Bitcoin already recovering.

Bitcoin Outperformed Early Recovery

During that same recovery period, Bitcoin gained roughly 70% from its bear market bottom before altcoins began their strongest rally.

By comparison, the overall altcoin market finished only about 12% higher over most of that accumulation period despite experiencing several temporary rallies and pullbacks. According to the analyst, there may be little advantage in rushing into altcoins while Bitcoin is still establishing its trend.

Ethereum and Solana Show Similar Patterns

The same trend appeared across major altcoins.

Ethereum appreciated roughly 40% between its December 2022 low and October 2023 before its larger rally began.

Solana followed a similar structure. Although it recovered from roughly $8 to around $20, the analyst noted this was only a small move compared to its eventual surge above $300 during the next bull market.

This reinforces the idea that major altcoins often spend months consolidating before their strongest gains arrive.

August Could Bring More Volatility

Seasonality also supports a cautious approach.

Since both 2018 and 2022 followed similar patterns. Bitcoin typically found an important low during June, rebounded throughout July, then experienced renewed weakness during August, September, and in some cases later into the year before forming its final bottom.

The current market has mirrored that pattern so far, with Bitcoin recovering during July after a weak June.

Based on these historical trends, he said Bitcoin currently offers a stronger risk-reward profile than altcoins. While the long-term outlook for altcoins remains bullish, historically investors may still have several months to accumulate positions before the next broad altcoin rally truly begins.
