TLDR

  • Bitmine added 12,532 ETH last week, lifting its total to 6,028,946 ETH, worth about $15.3 billion.
  • The company now holds about 4.9% of ether’s 122.1 million token supply and is close to its 5% goal.
  • Chairman Tom Lee cites an estimated $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion wealth transfer from 2026 to 2028 as a possible driver of crypto demand.
  • Bitmine has staked 84% of its ETH and projects $336 million in annualized staking revenue.
  • Lee says digital asset treasuries remove supply from the market, which he views as favorable for the next bull cycle.

Bitmine Immersion Technologies bought another 12,532 ETH last week, moving closer to its goal of owning 5% of all ether. The company announced the purchase on Monday as part of its weekly holdings update.

The buy brings Bitmine’s total to 6,028,946 ETH. At a price of about $2,544 per token, that stake is worth roughly $15.3 billion.

Bitmine now holds about 4.9% of ether’s 122.1 million token supply. That leaves the company about 76,000 ETH short of its 5% target.

At last week’s buying pace, Bitmine could reach that goal in about six weeks. Chairman Tom Lee said last week the company plans to stop buying ETH once it hits 5%.

Bitmine shifted to an ether-focused strategy in June 2025. The company says it has bought ETH every week since then.

Lee Points to Wealth Transfer

Lee, who also co-founded research firm Fundstrat, shared his outlook in a Monday statement. He pointed to estimates from the IRS and Fundstrat that between $1.5 trillion and $2 trillion in wealth could change hands from 2026 through 2028.

“Those inheriting wealth are younger and likely have a higher risk appetite for crypto and equities,” Lee said. He expects that to support the next crypto bull market.

Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev made a similar point on CNBC last month. He said more than $100 trillion in wealth is set to pass from older to younger generations over the coming decades.

It is unclear how much of that money will actually go into digital assets. Younger investors may put more into crypto than earlier generations, but that remains an idea, not a certainty.

Lee also named other possible drivers. These include Wall Street’s use of blockchain to represent financial assets, the rise of AI applications, and crypto treasury companies holding tokens for the long term.

“We see the potential for this to be the largest ever crypto bull market,” Lee said. He added that treasury companies remove supply from the market, which was not the case in the 2019 to 2021 cycle.

Staking and Other Holdings

Bitmine has staked 5,067,309 ETH, valued at about $12.9 billion. That is 84% of its holdings, held through its MAVAN platform and staking partners.

The company projects $336 million in annualized staking revenue, based on a seven-day yield of 2.61%. It expects that figure to reach $400 million once all its ETH is staked.

Bitmine also reported 214 bitcoin and a $180 million stake in Beast Industries. It holds an $85 million investment in Eightco Holdings and $612 million in cash and marketable securities.

In total, its crypto, cash and other holdings were worth $16.2 billion as of Oct. 11. Lee noted that ether beat the S&P 500 by 6,832 basis points in the third quarter.

On Monday, ether traded at about $2,529, up 1.03% over 24 hours.
