CME Group has launched trading for Uniswap (UNI) futures contracts, making the token the first DeFi governance asset to enter the world’s leading regulated platform. Trading officially kicked off this Monday, October 19, after clearing the regulatory approval phase and completing institutional compliance technical adjustments. The instruments are available in two sizes—a standard contract of 10,000 UNI and a micro contract of 1,000 UNI—with cash financial settlement referenced to the CME CF Uniswap-Dollar rate, trading continuously via CME Globex.

This launch sets a historic precedent by building a direct bridge between the decentralized finance ecosystem and Wall Street firms. The availability of regulated contracts provides traditional funds with formal hedging and arbitrage tools that were previously limited, while also facilitating direct short positions on the asset without requiring physical custody of the token.
Following a sharp prior rally and subsequent consolidation around $7.30 – $7.50, the market is now watching initial volume and open interest in Chicago as the ultimate gauge to validate institutional appetite for DeFi assets.
