What to know:
- WLFI’s Zak Folkman slammed Justin Sun’s moral lecturing, citing HTX’s UK FCA flag and Sun’s $10M SEC wash-trading settlement.
- Enforcement history hits trust, listings, and institutional custody affecting HTX, Tron, stablecoin issuers, and ETF partners.

World Liberty Financial (WLFI) co-founder Zak Folkman mocked Tron and HTX founder Justin Sun for his “lecturing anyone on what is right” is rich, ” he remarked. Such a comment shows the tension between the two companies and brings attention back to exchange governance and their compliance records.
It is quite surprising, but some might have already expected a showdown. Folkman mentioned the UK sanctions against HTX, an old Huobi, as well as a $10 million SEC wash-trading case involving Sun companies. This incident happened after the spotlight on the WLFI token distribution and Sun’s frozen allocation.
UK Sanctions And SEC
This confrontation is between WLFI – a DeFi product connected closely with the Donald Trump family – and Justin Sun, the visionary mind behind Tron, and advisor for the HTX team. While folk is WLFI partner, Sun is the big stakeholder across Tron and HTX.
He cited as examples the 2023 SEC allegations that TRX and BTT offerings were made without prior approval from regulators and that there was manipulative trading, which was settled with fines of $750,000 by the companies involved.

WLFI Versus Tron Empire
World Liberty Financial, founded by the Trump family, is the latest example of how DeFi is being used by big-name political personalities, and the company is now facing opposition from some critics on its token sales practices.
Folkman and the Trump family will have many critics in the DeFi sphere who are calling for stricter regulatory measures, which might explain Folkman’s decision to take a swipe at Sun.

However, Sun is a very busy guy. Tron, which is arguably the third largest blockchain network worldwide, was founded with the ambition to create an open internet by decentralizing it, among other things. The HTX (former Huobi Global) founder and co-founder of Tron were also the major shareholders of HTX.

Why do Enforcement Histories Matter for Crypto?
The history of enforcement influences the level of institutional trust, the ability of a bank to offer banking services and a listing risk. For instance, the UK’s Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) raising the issue about HTX has brought up compliance questions for UK market makers and custodians evaluating counterparty risk.
