It has been claimed that an entity linked to the family of the current US president, Donald Trump, owns another 38% of the shares of WLTC Holdings. These two would become the largest owners of the company, should the claims be true.

World Liberty Bank Awaits Final Approval

World Liberty Trust Company received an initial conditional approval from the OCC on August 14. In its decision made public, the regulatory body confirms that StringZ Holding is an investor in WLTC Holdings and has committed not to interfere with the activities of the bank.

Nevertheless, the OCC decision neither mentions Sheikh Tahnoon as the owner of StringZ Holding, nor does it disclose the amount of his investments.

This would be the primary responsibility of the World Liberty Bank in the USD1 ecosystem of World Liberty Financial stablecoins. With the receipt of final regulatory approval, the bank can take care of issuance, redemption, and custody of the stablecoin.

However, the bank is unable to start its operations at present. This is because World Liberty Trust Company has to fulfill certain pre-opening obligations of the OCC.

Sheikh Tahnoon’s Growing US Crypto Connection

Sheikh Tahnoon is the national security advisor of the UAE and heads the artificial intelligence firm called G42. The Sheikh’s business interests of the Sheikh have been growing more intertwined with the US.

In November 2025, the US allowed the export of AI chips from the US to G42 under an agreement made by the government of Washington and Abu Dhabi on artificial intelligence collaboration.

Sheikh Tahnoon has been associated with World Liberty Financial in the past. He is said to have supported an investment worth $500 million that gave him 49% ownership of the cryptocurrency venture. The deal later became controversial when some senators wanted hearings to be held concerning it.

The ownership claim made for the parent company of World Liberty Bank has increased the diversity of international investors involved in the project. Nevertheless, the actual ownership scheme and the possibility of opening the bank itself will be subject to regulation.
