I was skeptical when I saw WWE setting up Oba Femi vs. Bron Breakker for Sunday Night’s Main Event. However, I was pleasantly surprised by how this one was booked, and happy to see the return of the monstrous and insanely fit Bronson Reed back to WWE TV. Let’s talk Sunday Night’s Main Event.

Breakker and Femi put on a strong match before interference from Austin Theory, then Logan Paul, then Maxxine Dupri and finally, the surprise return from Reed. Femi thwarted Theory’s attempts. The referee intercepted Paul. Dupri’s attempt to hand Breakker a pair of brass knuckles was shut down by Femi’s counter. When it looked like Femi would go over, Reed emerged — leaner, meaner and built to look like a supervillain — and hammered Femi with a chair.
The match ran 14 minutes and Femi won by disqualification. Bleacher Report graded it a B-plus. Reed had been off television for months with an injury. After the chair shot he and Breakker traded off on Femi, three Tsunamis split by two spears and then a fourth Tsunami, until officials came out to stop it. Later in the night Cathy Kelley asked Paul Heyman about it. He said he had plenty to say, took a phone call and walked away.
It triggered the disqualification, but it preceded what felt like a thousand Tsunamis to the ruler. It was a great segment for several reasons. First, it delayed the premature head-to-head battle between Femi and Breakker. They’re the future and there is no reason to have one beat the other just yet. Second, Reed’s return was positioned perfectly. He looks great and now Femi has a real feud with the entire Vision. That’s a win for everyone. Third, it was good to see Femi take some damage. I love Femi and I don’t want him to become this superhero that the WWE universe winds up hating. This creates some much needed balance.
