What to know:

  • Ripple now supports fixCleanup3_3_0 to advance the XRP Ledger v3.3.0 network upgrade.
  • The amendment needs 28 of 35 validator votes for two weeks before mainnet activation.
  • Version 3.3.0 targets vaults, lending, lower memory use, and stronger node performance.

Ripple has backed the fixCleanup3_3_0 amendment, which bundles several bug fixes and protocol cleanups. The vote supports the XRP Ledger v3.3.0 upgrade. The release targets stability, performance, and readiness for institutional and tokenization use cases.

Ripple cast its vote during the amendment’s early voting stage. Voting data showed support from 8 of 35 Unique Node List validators. Activation requires at least 28 votes, equal to 80% support, for two consecutive weeks.

How XRP Ledger v3.3.0 Expands Vaults and Lending

The bundled amendment covers Single Asset Vaults and the Lending Protocol. It also addresses Automated Market Makers, the permissioned DEX, Checks, and pseudo-accounts. Each change is part of the XRP Ledger 3.3.0 release.

As reported earlier, Ripple has supported the Single Asset Vault and Lending Protocol amendments. Those proposals would add XRP or RLUSD vaults and credit infrastructure. The changes are designed for decentralized finance and tokenization on the XRP Ledger.

Meanwhile, node operators must install version 3.3.0 before the upgrade activates. Older software could become amendment-blocked after the new rules take effect. An affected node would no longer follow the updated XRP Ledger mainnet rules.

Other proposals remain in the validator process. They include ConfidentialTransfer, BatchV1_1, DynamicMPT, PermissionDelegationV1_1, and Sponsor.

These amendments have been announced on Aug. 7. Each one operates independently from the fixCleanup3_3_0. Validator nodes should verify all of them to be able to make their rules live on the mainnet.

What New XRP Ledger Amendments Add to the Network

ConfidentialTransfer will provide private transfers for Multi-Purpose Tokens. Balances and transfer amounts will be hidden but verifiable for the activity. Issuers or auditors authorized by the XRP Ledger can see data necessary for compliance purposes.

BatchV1_1 will allow one account to bundle up to eight inner transactions. Every step could succeed or fail as a group.

This structure will help to implement cases like atomic swaps. The developers have updated the older Batch amendment due to its security flaw.

PermissionDelegationV1_1 is also an updated amendment. This feature will let the account delegate the limited transaction permissions to another account. The primary private key will stay in the control of the first account.

Some changes included in this update do not refer to new features. The developers report about a 10% to 15% memory saving.

Improved performance for online deletes and synchronization of the node has also been mentioned by the developers. More test coverage and optimizations are included in XRP Ledger v3.3.0.

XRP Price Gains and Futures Activity

At the time of writing, XRP is trading at around $1.02, having recovered from the $1 mark according to CoinMarketCap. The coin had gained around 1.5% over 24 hours. The trading volume is up by about 7% in the past 24 hours.

CoinGlass data showed mixed activity across XRP derivatives markets. The total XRP futures open interest went down by more than 1% within one hour after recently exceeding $2.67 billion.

However, CME XRP futures open interest was 1.31% up over 24 hours. Open interest declined on Binance, OKX, Bybit, and several other crypto exchanges.
