What to know:

  • XRP rose over 17% to $1.43 as Ripple backed the key PermissionDelegationV1_1 proposal.
  • XRPL PermissionDelegationV1_1 needs over 80% validator support for two straight weeks.
  • US spot XRP ETFs drew $13.24 million, while futures open interest reached $3.44 billion.

XRP price rose more than 17% to an intraday high of $1.43 as Ripple supported the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment. The vote advanced a key part of XRP Ledger version 3.3.0, although the feature still needs broad validator approval before activation.

According to the recent voting data, seven out of 35 validators in the Unique Node List have voted in favor of the amendment. Ripple had made its contribution with a vote, but it does not have any control over the success of the amendment. XRPL needs more than 80% support for two consecutive weeks.

What Does Ripple’s Vote Mean for the XRPL Amendment?

In a list of 35 validators, the number of votes should be 29 for surpassing the required number. If the number of votes falls below 80%, the waiting period starts again. The validators are also free to change their decisions before the amendment is activated.

The PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment would give account owners the ability to authorize another account for specified types of transactions. The account owner will have full control over the signing process. This authorization won’t be applicable for other payments or account settings.

Financial organizations also use such a role-based system in order to limit access to data by employees or providers of services. They could provide a specific function for a specific account without providing any additional rights.

According to RippleX head of product Jazzi Cooper, regulated organizations require appropriate controls for putting tokenized value onto a public ledger. She stated that token issuance is a requirement for the on-chain usage.

This new amendment follows the XLS-75 standard. This amendment replaces the previous amendment, which was disabled on 2.6.1 because of the discovery of a serious bug. This amendment retains limited authority to fix this bug.

A 3.3.0 was released in August. It also contains BatchV1_1, ConfidentialTransfer, DynamicMPT, Sponsor, and fixCleanup3_3_0 amendments. These amendments include grouped transactions, confidential token values, dynamic token parameters, sponsored cost, and protocol fixes.

Node operators should operate the software that supports approved amendments. Older nodes become amendment blocked when facing unknown protocol rules.

Where Do Related XRPL Proposals Stand?

Ripple also supports the amendment proposals for Single Asset Vault and Lending Protocol. Latest updates have shown the support level to be around 40% and more than 37%, respectively. However, they both fail to meet the threshold of supermajority.

Under the proposed vault mechanism, it will aggregate one asset, which can include XRP, RLUSD, or any other ledger asset. Shareholders will hold shares in accordance with their proportionate ownership. As for the lending mechanism, it will introduce fixed-term issuance and servicing.

This lending mechanism will leverage pooled liquidity and off-chain credit assessments. A re-audit by Halborn in June did not reveal any major or high-severity vulnerabilities in the code.

Approval by validators will simply activate the functionality on XRPL. It will not impact any US regulatory requirement for XRP, RLUSD, securities, or lending products.

What Is Driving XRP Market Activity?

XRP rallied by about 40% within 7 days following the lowest point of $1.22 made throughout the recent session. Spot trading volume grew 156%. A rise in cryptocurrency prices and short-covering were the reasons for the rally.

The net amount of money flowing into US spot XRP ETFs was $13.24 million on Thursday. Bitwise gathered $9.9 million, and Franklin Templeton collected $3.34 million.

However, futures open interest rose to $3.44 billion, growing by more than 17% over 24 hours. CME open interest grew above 35%. Binance gained 15%, and Hyperliquid rose 29%.
