The percentage of XRP supply that has been active over the past year has fallen to a new yearly low below 50% in October 2026.
This decline could have a positive effect on the XRP price if the trend continues. Although XRP has faced heavy selling pressure this month, the data suggests that more coins have remained untouched for at least a year, potentially reducing the amount of XRP available for trading.
XRP Supply Active Over the Past Year Falls to 49.723%
After a strong September, XRP entered October in a downtrend, and selling pressure has continued into the fourth week of the month.
The cryptocurrency has recorded three consecutive weekly losses and could be heading for a fourth, with its price down 0.37% so far this week.
XRP has also lost 13.3% in October and is on track to record its first monthly loss since June. At the time of writing, XRP trades around $1.28.
Despite this price decline, on-chain data shows that the percentage of XRP supply that moved within the past year has continued to fall.
The metric stood at 50.353% in the week ending Oct. 4 but has since dropped to 49.723%. This means a smaller share of the total XRP supply has moved during the past year, while more coins have remained inactive for at least 12 months.
The latest reading marks the lowest level for this metric on the weekly timeframe in 2026. Although the decline has not been as sharp as previous drops, the continued downward movement could support the XRP price if the pattern picks up.
Previous Declines Came Before XRP Price Recoveries
Previous movements in this metric confirm the bullish outlook. In late November 2025, the percentage of XRP supply active over the past year stood at 53.366%. By late December 2025, it had fallen to 50.899%, marking a significant decline over the period.

During this time, XRP recovered from a low of $1.8106 toward the end of 2025 and climbed to a local high of $2.4159 on Jan. 5, 2026. The price later faced a massive pullback. However, the earlier recovery showed that XRP could rise significantly when the supply active over the past year was falling.
A similar pattern appeared in 2026. The metric dropped from 56.057% in early July to 51.653% by mid-August. Following this decline, XRP recorded its strong August rally, gaining 53% within a week and briefly climbing above $1.50. Although the price has since pulled back, XRP has retained some of the gains from that rally.
The latest decline began at 50.157% in early October and has brought the metric down to 49.723% as the month approaches its close. While this drop is smaller than the previous declines, the new yearly low could be an important development if the trend continues and buying pressure returns.
Why Falling Active XRP Supply Could Support Prices
When the percentage of XRP supply active over the past year declines, it means more coins have remained untouched for at least 12 months.
This could reduce immediate selling pressure because holders who leave their tokens inactive are not actively moving them into the market. However, inactivity does not mean these holders will never sell. The trend could also point to confidence among long-term holders.
A decline in the XRP supply active over the past year can also have a negative interpretation. It could mean that fewer coins are moving because activity across the XRP ecosystem has slowed. If that were the case, the trend might instead indicate weaker network participation.
However, recent data suggests that activity on the XRP Ledger (XRPL) is increasing. Daily transactions reached 3.7 million on Oct. 25, marking a 52.5% increase from the previous day. This was also the highest daily transaction count recorded on the network in six months.
Successful transactions also rose to 3.238 million, an 83% increase from the previous day’s figure and another six-month high.
Other network indicators, including transactions per ledger, the number of ledgers closed, and ledger interval, also increased. These figures show growth in several measures of XRPL activity. The number of payments was the main exception, falling 52.6% to 567,438.
