The Australian Dollar weakens versus the Japanese Yen as risk-appetite shifted sour due to the escalation of the US-Iran conflict, which has broadened to a fight between Yemen’s Houthis vs Saudi Arabia, who fight for control of the Red Sea. The AUD/JPY exchange rate is 110.53, down 0.27%.

AUD/JPY Price Forecast: Technical Outlook

Price action shows the AUD/JPY trading sideways beneath the 200-day Simple Moving Average (SMA) at 110.88, extending the bearish trend for four straight days since the last positive day on September 4.

This shows that threats of US Treasury Secretary Bessent worked in favor of the Yen, but mostly against other currencies except for the Greenback, which continued to outperform the JPY.

The Relative Strength Index (RSI) remains bearish, confirming further AUD/JPY downside.

Phemex

The first AUD/JPY support is 110.50, followed by the psychological 110.00 level. Beneath is the March 31 daily low of 108.79 and the February 13 cycle low of 107.69.

Should the AUD/JPY clear the 200-day SMA, the cross could reach the 111.00 figure in the near-term. A breach of those two levels will immediately expose the 50-day SMA at 112.88 ahead of the 100-day SMA at 113.09.
