Zcash Crypto Report Shows Security Work And Healthy Reserves
Zcash Foundation has shared its report for the second quarter of 2026, giving a closer look at its finances and the work completed during the period.
The report showed net liquid assets of about $48.7 million. That amount included 78,986 ZEC valued at around $31.5 million. The Foundation also said its average monthly operating cost was about $321,000. Most of that spending went into protocol development and engineering work.
During the quarter, the engineering team released seven updates for the Zebra node software. Those releases focused on keeping the network stable while fixing known problems. Developers corrected a mempool bypass issue and fixed several remote procedure call denial-of-service bugs. These problems could affect how the software handled requests, so the fixes were important for the network.

The team also solved a long-running synchronization issue that slowed node performance. After the update, the time needed for a full sync dropped to about 14 hours. Another change came with the release of FROST v3.0.0.
The update added automatic key zeroization during signing. This removes sensitive key data from memory after use and lowers the chance of that information remaining available longer than needed.
These updates came as the ZEC price climbed above the $510 level. While market prices change for many reasons, regular software updates and security fixes remain an important part of keeping the network in good shape.
Zcash Crypto Records Largest Move Into New Shielded Pool
In a separate development, the network also reached another milestone after the Ironwood, or NU6.3, upgrade went live on July 28, 2026.
According to Fortitude crypto CFO Erik Ellingson, Zcash has now recorded the biggest movement between shielded pools in its history. As of August 6, more than 1.33 million Zcash had moved into the new shielded pool.
That is about 7.9% of the current circulating supply. Around one-third of the balance from the old Orchard pool has already completed the move.

Ironwood introduced a new shielded pool built with a corrected Orchard circuit. The upgrade also added formal verification with machine-checked proofs, independent security audits, and quantum recoverable notes under ZIP 2005.
The new pool followed the discovery of a weakness in Orchard’s zero knowledge circuit by Shielded Labs researcher Taylor Hornby in late May 2026. After that finding, the older Orchard pool was limited to withdrawals only.
Funds leave the old pool through a turnstile built into the protocol. This process allows every node operator to confirm that no more coins leave the pool than were deposited.
ZEC Price Builds On Strong 2026 Performance
ZEC price also posted steady gains this year. Performance data shows the Zcash price is up over 12% in 2026 after rising 9% in 2025. Before that, it fell around 3% in 2024, 18% in 2023, and about 7% in 2022, respectively.
The latest move above $510 has placed the ZEC price back in focus. Traders will be watching to see whether it can stay above that level in the coming days.
At the same time, Zcash crypto continues to receive regular development work. The latest report showed active software updates, stronger security features, and a record shift into the new shielded pool.
Those developments give users a clearer picture of what has been happening on the network while the project continues its work through the second half of 2026.
