In a significant infrastructure upgrade, prediction market platform Kalshi has integrated DoubleZero’s institutional-grade data feed into its order book system. This partnership addresses the increasing requirements from financial institutions seeking enhanced speed and reliability when accessing market information across cryptocurrency and prediction market sectors.

DoubleZero operates on Solana, a leading layer-1 blockchain network. The company’s DoubleZeroEdge solution functions as a transport infrastructure that simultaneously distributes live exchange and blockchain data through dedicated fiber optic connections to all subscribing traders.

The traditional finance sector has historically employed specialized private network infrastructure for high-speed data delivery. Meanwhile, cryptocurrency market participants predominantly depend on conventional internet connectivity. DoubleZero aims to bridge this infrastructure disparity.

“The distribution framework we’re implementing mirrors the established model that has supported conventional financial exchanges, including NYSE, Nasdaq, and CME, throughout multiple decades,” the DoubleZero Foundation stated in Wednesday’s announcement.

Available Data Features

Kalshi has become the inaugural prediction market to provide live order book information for sports and crypto perpetual futures through a specialized data distribution system.

Perpetual futures contracts in cryptocurrency represent derivatives enabling traders to engage in price speculation on underlying assets without contract expiration dates. These instruments represent some of Kalshi’s highest-volume trading products.

Subscribers accessing the data feed receive machine-readable order book information from Kalshi. This capability eliminates the necessity for traders to independently develop infrastructure from API responses and raw order book data.

According to Austin Federa, DoubleZero’s co-founder, data accessibility represents a “critical part” of overall market infrastructure, yet this supporting framework has historically been absent from emerging financial sectors including cryptocurrency and prediction markets.

Both organizations made the joint announcement Wednesday, with availability beginning immediately for new DoubleZero Edge subscribers.

Platform Trading Activity Analysis

Information from Dune Analytics indicates that exotic contracts lead Kalshi’s categories with 39.4% of weekly notional volume. Sports-related markets capture 37.8%, while cryptocurrency contracts account for 20.3%.

Kalshi and Polymarket represent the world’s two dominant prediction market platforms. Earlier in July, OpenAI integrated Kalshi’s prediction market probabilities for FIFA World Cup competitions into ChatGPT’s search functionality.

Platforms such as Kalshi generate probability assessments for events including central bank interest rate determinations and economic inflation releases. These market-moving events can trigger price adjustments in milliseconds, emphasizing the importance of rapid data delivery for institutional market participants.

Meanwhile, Kalshi confronts ongoing regulatory scrutiny. Several US states, including Michigan, Kentucky, and Nevada, have contested the platform’s sports event contract offerings, contending these products represent unauthorized sports wagering activities. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission has countered these challenges by asserting federal regulatory authority over such contracts.

The CFTC has initiated legal proceedings against multiple states to maintain its jurisdictional position, with litigation currently in progress.
