Coinbase has opened IPO access to eligible U.S. retail investors, letting customers request shares before public trading begins. The Coinbase IPO service extends its equities business beyond stock and ETF trading. Oura starts the feature.
Coinbase IPO Access Starts With Oura
Oura applied to list its stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market under ticker OURA. Its September 3 Form S-1 named Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, JPMorgan, Allen & Co., and Jefferies among the offering’s lead bookrunners.
Eligible customers can request shares at the IPO price before Oura starts open-market trading. The process gives retail investors access to the primary market before exchange trading. Allocations depend on share supply and customer demand.
How Retail Allocation Requests Work
Customers enter the IPOs section of the Coinbase app, select an active deal, and fund their brokerage account. They can submit a Conditional Offer to Buy after the expected price range appears. The launch follows Coinbase’s push toward U.S. stock perpetuals as it widens its securities products.
Customers may edit or cancel requests while orders remain open. After the book closes, Coinbase assigns shares to customers. Investors may receive all, part, or none of the shares they request.
Coinbase Expands Beyond Secondary Trading
Coinbase already offers U.S. stock and ETF trading, with access to more than 8,000 securities, fractional shares, and 24/5 trading. Coinbase IPO allocations extend that service into primary-market distribution while keeping securities activity separate from digital asset operations.
The broader strategy includes derivatives, prediction markets, and planned tokenized equities. Coverage of tokenized stock trading shows how blockchain-based equities remain part of the company’s market expansion. Coinbase describes these services as parts of its Everything Exchange strategy.
Broker-Dealer Structure Supports Offering
Coinbase Capital Markets Corp. handles securities activity as a registered broker-dealer. It acts as a selling-group member and customer agent rather than an IPO underwriter. Apex Clearing provides execution, clearing, and custody.
The IPO launch follows a week when Coinbase shares moved with crypto and regulatory developments. Customers must complete an eligibility questionnaire before joining offerings. Coinbase says early selling can affect allocation access.
Selling allocated shares within 30 days may block participation in IPO offerings for 60 days. Repeated early sales may reduce later allocations. Coinbase Capital Markets plans to add more IPO opportunities when selling-group allocations become available.
