Quant CEO Gilbert Verdian teases “Programmable Yen” after his earlier dollar hint preceded a major U.S. deal, while Quant already has a Japan partnership.

Quant founder and CEO Gilbert Verdian has turned his programmable-money narrative toward Japan, asking whether the yen could be next.

The comment stands out because an earlier “Programmable Dollars next?” post was followed by Quant securing a major role in The Clearing House’s U.S. tokenized-deposit network.

Verdian first posted in May 2025 that programmable pounds and euros were already taking shape before asking whether dollars would follow. On Sept. 24, 2026, he returned to the same post with a simple update: “Programmable Dollars.”

That same day, The Clearing House announced it had selected Quant to power the interoperability, orchestration, and transaction-management layer of its On-Chain Money Initiative.

The network will connect tokenized bank deposits with existing U.S. payment rails, including RTP and CHIPS, and is expected to open to participating institutions in the first half of 2027.

Now Verdian is asking:

“Programmable Yen next?”

Quant Already Has a Foot in Japan

The Japan angle is not starting from zero.

In January, Quant entered a strategic partnership with Dentsu Soken to support programmable digital money, tokenized deposits and bank-issued stablecoins in Japan.

The arrangement combines Quant’s programmable settlement technology with Dentsu Soken’s experience integrating core financial infrastructure for Japanese institutions.

Dentsu Soken specifically lists its Stream-R settlement-management system, which supports connections to BOJ-NET, among its existing capabilities. The companies said their work would target banks, payment and settlement operators, securities infrastructure and capital-market participants.

That gives Verdian’s latest post more context than a standalone social-media tease.

Still, there is an important boundary: there is no confirmed announcement that Quant has been selected by the Bank of Japan, BOJ-NET or the Zengin system. Dentsu Soken having BOJ-NET-connected infrastructure does not establish a direct Quant contract with the central bank.

Why the U.S. Sequence Is Getting Attention

The earlier dollar sequence explains why the new yen comment is drawing interest.

Verdian publicly raised the possibility of programmable dollars well before The Clearing House partnership became public. When that agreement was announced, Quant was chosen following a competitive process to provide core technology for a network serving tokenized bank deposits.

The Crypto Basic recently covered why The Clearing House selected Quant, including the company’s interoperability work and experience with regulated financial institutions.

Quant also has established work around programmable sterling and the digital euro, including projects involving UK tokenized deposits and programmable payments testing with the European Central Bank.

For Japan, however, the confirmed development remains the Dentsu Soken partnership. Verdian’s “Programmable Yen next?” comment adds a fresh signal of where Quant may be looking next, but any BOJ-NET or Zengin connection would require a separate official announcement.
