Bitcoin Holds Near $65K as Institutional Demand Improves

  • Bitcoin has stabilised near the $65,000 level.
  • Glassnode reports stronger taker demand and robust institutional inflows.
  • Weekly Bitcoin ETF netflow stood at roughly $770.6 million.
  • Weak spot liquidity and on-chain activity remain obstacles to a stronger recovery.

Bitcoin has stabilised near $65,000 as institutional demand and derivatives positioning improve, but Glassnode says the recovery remains tentative. Its latest Market Pulse points to stronger taker demand and ETF inflows while weak spot liquidity and subdued on-chain activity limit conviction.

Bitcoin Holds $65K as Taker Demand Strengthens in August

Glassnode’s August 10 Market Pulse says Bitcoin has stabilised near $65,000, with stronger taker demand supporting the market. Taker demand reflects aggressive buying and selling, suggesting buyers are more willing to take available liquidity. This matters because taker activity can provide a clearer signal of positioning than price alone.

The shift also comes alongside easing downside hedging, according to Glassnode. That indicates traders are showing less demand for protection against further declines. However, lower hedging does not guarantee a sustained rally because traders may remain cautious about spot exposure.

Bitcoin ETF Inflows Support Institutional Demand in 2026

Institutional flows are another constructive part of the picture. Glassnode reports robust institutional inflows, while its chart shows weekly Bitcoin ETF netflow at about $770.6 million. Spot ETF flows matter because they give traditional investors BTC exposure without direct coin management.

For investors, ETF inflows and stronger taker demand suggest demand is broadening beyond speculative positioning. Sustained ETF inflows could help absorb available supply if the trend continues. Glassnode’s July research also noted that institutional participation was returning, although conviction remained limited.

Bitcoin Spot Liquidity Remains Weak Despite $65K Recovery

The main caution is the spot market. Glassnode says subdued spot liquidity and weak on-chain activity are preventing the recovery from becoming a stronger trend. When liquidity is thin, modest buying or selling can have a larger effect on price, increasing volatility as derivatives indicators improve.

Weak on-chain activity suggests the move is not accompanied by broad network participation. That matters for longer-term investors because a durable BTC advance generally needs more than institutional flows and derivatives positioning. Stronger spot demand, transaction activity, and capital inflows would provide confirmation.

Bitcoin Needs Stronger Spot Demand to Confirm $65K Recovery

The immediate question is whether BTC can maintain $65,000 while spot participation improves. If ETF inflows remain positive, taker demand strengthens and downside hedging stays subdued, the market could build a firmer base. Conversely, fading institutional flows or renewed defensive positioning would weaken the recovery case.

Glassnode presents the setup as constructive but incomplete rather than a confirmed trend reversal. Traders should watch derivatives and ETF flows, while longer-term participants should monitor on-chain activity and spot liquidity. The next phase will depend on whether demand reaches the underlying market or remains concentrated in financial products.
