Bruno Mars is sure to be one of the most-nominated artists at the 2027 Grammys, with the list of potential winners set to be announced at some point in December. He is all but assured a spot in the Album of the Year category with his comeback set, The Romantic, while the project’s lead single, “I Just Might,” could compete for both Record and Song of the Year – trophies that the singer-songwriter has claimed in the past.
Whether Mars will submit “I Just Might” in pop or R&B categories remains to be seen, but it should be a serious contender wherever the superstar chooses to focus. On the Billboard charts, “I Just Might” has been a huge win at both pop radio and on R&B-leaning tallies, and it is on one of the latter where Mars makes history yet again this frame.
Bruno Mars Pulls Ahead of SZA
“I Just Might” now stands alone as the fourth-longest-running No. 1 in the history of the Hot R&B Songs ranking. Last week, Mars was tied with SZA’s “Kill Bill,” as both tracks had accumulated an even 30 frames in charge. “I Just Might” has now pulled ahead, though Mars could match another SZA smash in only a matter of days.
Bruno Mars Could Soon Match SZA’s Other Smash
SZA’s “Snooze” spent 32 stints at No. 1 between 2023 and 2024 and currently ranks as the third-longest-running champion in the history of the tally. “I Just Might” will almost certainly be counted as one of the top hits on the Hot R&B Songs chart when Billboard refreshes its rankings again. Even if the single eventually slips from the penthouse, it could easily return.
If Mars holds on for one more frame, “I Just Might” will tie “Snooze.” After that, the next major target will be Leon Thomas’s “Mutt.” His breakout hit spent 34 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs roster just last year. “I Just Might” needs just three more frames in charge – which at this point seems entirely logical – to match that total.
The Weeknd Still Owns the All-Time Record
The all-time leader remains far out in front of every other R&B smash in Billboard history. The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” spent 48 weeks — just one month short of a full year — at No. 1 on the Hot R&B Songs chart beginning in 2020.
If there is any current track that has a shot at even approaching that record, it may be “I Just Might.” The single has turned out to be not only one of the biggest hits of any kind in America in 2026, but also one of the most successful songs in Mars’s already blockbuster-filled catalog.
Bruno Mars Also Rules Another R&B Chart
The Hot R&B Songs chart is not the only Billboard ranking where “I Just Might” sits at No. 1. The smash also holds at the summit of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs roster, which is more encompassing than the R&B-only roster, as it also incorporates music that Billboard classifies as hip-hop and rap.
“I Just Might” has now spent 24 weeks at No. 1 on that tally. It holds as the second-longest-running champion in the history of the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs list, after recently passing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us,” which managed 22 frames in charge. Lamar and SZA still own the all-time record with “Luther,” which dominated for 31 weeks.
“I Just Might” Remains a Smash Across Several Genres
“I Just Might” can be found on a dozen Billboard charts this week, months after its release and initial explosion. The single is comfortable inside the top 10 on seven of those rosters, spread across both pop and R&B. In addition to leading the Hot R&B Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, “I Just Might” sits inside the highest tier on the Radio Songs, Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, Adult Pop Airplay and R&B Streaming Songs rankings.
