Cardano founder Charles Hoskinson has sparked fresh excitement around Midnight after teasing that “huge things” are on the horizon, signaling that the privacy-focused blockchain project could be approaching its next major phase of growth.

The comments came after Midnight’s NIGHT token faced intense volatility following a security incident involving the Wanchain bridge.

However, despite the market disruption, Hoskinson argued that the event did not weaken Midnight’s underlying technology or long-term prospects.

There is fundamental value, and we have some huge things coming for Midnight. It’s an incredible ecosystem with wonderful technology, commercialization, and leadership,” Hoskinson noted.

While the Cardano founder did not disclose specific details about the upcoming initiatives, his remarks suggest that Midnight’s roadmap includes major advancements designed to expand its role in blockchain privacy, security, and real-world applications.

Meanwhile, NIGHT faced intense selling pressure after attackers exploited the Wanchain cross-chain bridge, leading to the unauthorized withdrawal of approximately 515 million tokens valued between $9 million and $13 million.

As a result, the sudden movement of a large token supply triggered panic among traders, sending NIGHT’s price down more than 30% to a new all-time low of around $0.01582 before the asset staged a partial recovery.

Hoskinson described the situation as Midnight’s first major stress test, arguing that the network demonstrated resilience despite facing a large liquidity shock.

The boss also sought to clarify concerns surrounding the incident, emphasizing that Midnight’s blockchain infrastructure remained secure throughout the event.

According to him, the exploit was isolated to the Wanchain bridge and did not affect Midnight’s smart contracts, Cardano’s network, or the NIGHT token infrastructure operating on Cardano.

Furthermore, he stressed that Midnight continued functioning normally, with no interruption to its core operations. The Glacier Drop distribution process also remained on schedule, with the ecosystem recently surpassing a milestone after 1.5 billion NIGHT tokens were successfully redeemed.

Beyond the immediate market recovery, Midnight’s broader vision centers around privacy-focused blockchain technology designed to provide stronger security and confidentiality for users and businesses.

Supporters of the project have highlighted features such as zero-knowledge technology, recursive SNARK bridges, trusted execution environments (TEEs), and multi-signature safeguards as key components of Midnight’s security architecture.

Additionally, the ecosystem’s Midnight Passport initiative is also expected to play a role by allowing users to verify ownership and identity while maintaining control over what information they reveal.

These privacy tools could become increasingly relevant as blockchain adoption expands into areas requiring greater data protection, including financial services, enterprise applications, and digital identity solutions.

The recent market turbulence appears unlikely to slow Hoskinson’s confidence in Midnight’s future. He suggested that the incident could eventually be viewed as only a small moment in the project’s larger development journey.

Notably, the Cardano founder believes Midnight’s ability to withstand a major liquidity event demonstrates the strength of its community and technical foundation.

At the time of writing, NIGHT had recorded a strong rebound of roughly 34% over the previous 24 hours, with trading volume surpassing $100 million.
