Charles Schwab aims to grow its crypto business by adding Solana, Avalanche, and Chainlink trading to its digital asset services Schwab Crypto in a few months time. This expansion doesnt just include Bitcoin and Ethereum, it reflects that a $13 trillion holding company is getting on board with a broader variety of digital assets as mainstream demand reenters altcoins.
Charles Schwab’s Expansion Strategy
Charles Schwab launched Schab Crypto in May offering direct spot trading only in Bitcoin and Ethereum. Adding SOL, AVAX, and LINK would be the first expansion in Schwab Crypto to altcoins.
Solana supports fast-throughput DeFi and consumer apps, Avalanche is used to build enterprise tokenisation-enabled subnets and Chainlink has the secure oracle infrastructure supporting over $27 billion of real value across DeFi.

Charles Schwab Brings Altcoins To Mainstream
For investors and institutions, Charles Schwab’s level of operations matters a lot. It has 36 million active brokerage accounts and more than $10 trillion in assets. This move brings investors who currently invest in equities and ETFs access to altcoins that go through the regulated chain.
From a blockchain perspective, it opens up mainstream distribution which was previously confined to Coinbase and Kraken, so investors can have liquidity as well. For other firms in the space, meaning the game is becoming more cutthroat because now crypto flows will be handled internally by traditional brokers.

Institutional Crypto Momentum Accelerates
The new stock offering matches trends happening at institutional level. Spot Bitcoin ETFs have already crossed $120 billion in net assets since January 2024, while asset managers are moving closer to diversified holdings of smart contract and infrastructure tokens.


U.S. regulatory guidance which is getting better has enabled companies to list assets which they consider as having strong developer activity, transparent governance and compliance.
