- Major Deribit Integration: Coinbase officially completed its Deribit integration, launching the Coinbase Global Exchange.
- New Advanced Products: Deribit-powered options, spot margin, and unified portfolio features will roll out in the coming weeks.
- Coinbase Pro Returns: As part of its “Everything Exchange” push, Coinbase will relaunch a rebuilt Coinbase Pro at the end of 2026.
Coinbase has completed its integration with crypto derivatives platform Deribit, bringing the two trading infrastructures together as the exchange moves closer to its vision of an “Everything Exchange.”
On October 7, Coinbase announced that its integration with crypto derivatives platform Deribit is now complete, creating the Coinbase Global Exchange. The move connects US and international derivatives markets through a single regulated liquidity pool and gives Coinbase a major foothold in crypto options.
What the Coinbase-Deribit Integration Changes
Coinbase said the combined platform offers liquidity representing more than $30 billion in Bitcoin options open interest as of September 30. According to the company, Deribit processed more than $1 trillion in trading volume last year.
Coinbase International Exchange and Deribit now provide perpetuals, dated futures, options and spot trading within one platform. Existing perpetuals traders on the Coinbase app, website or Coinbase Advanced keep the same experience, while the underlying infrastructure now runs on Deribit’s next-generation matching engine.
Coinbase is also rolling out Deribit-powered options, spot margin and unified portfolios in the coming weeks. These are designed to provide cross-portfolio risk modeling, multi-asset margin offsets and single-step options execution.
Options availability will depend on the customer and jurisdiction. Coinbase says eligible traders outside the US will receive access in the coming weeks, while US retail access to options is expected later this year. US institutional clients can access options through Coinbase Prime under a separate rollout.
The platform also includes a new matching engine, streamlined retail onboarding and updated fee tiers for Coinbase Advanced traders. Coinbase says the new fee structure combines spot and derivatives activity, with lower commission rates available from $10,000 in qualifying volume.
Coinbase Pushes Toward an “Everything Exchange”
The Deribit integration is part of Coinbase’s broader strategy to bring multiple financial markets and trading products under one platform.
The company says its vision is an “Everything Exchange” where traders can access different instruments through regulated infrastructure.
Coinbase says U.S. traders had long been shut out of the world’s largest crypto derivatives markets, which accounted for roughly 80% of global crypto trading volume, despite having the scale to participate.
That changed in May 2026, when CFTC guidance allowed Coinbase Financial Markets to connect U.S. clients to global derivatives liquidity.
Coinbase Pro Returns as Part of “Everything Exchange” Push
Coinbase’s expansion will continue later this year with the return of Coinbase Pro.
The company says Coinbase Pro will return at the end of 2026 as a dedicated professional trading platform covering spot, futures, perpetuals, options and equities.
Coinbase says the revamped platform is being rebuilt from the ground up to offer faster order routing, smoother execution, and more advanced tools for high-volume traders running complex strategies across its markets.
Why This Matters
Coinbase is consolidating spot, futures and options under one ecosystem, which may reduce the need for traders to split activity across separate platforms. It also strengthens Coinbase’s position in crypto derivatives, a growing market segment.
