Ripple has landed another huge institutional vote of confidence, and this one could put XRP firmly back in the spotlight. Billion-dollar asset manager Brevan Howard, which oversees roughly $35 billion in assets, has tapped Ripple Prime, deepening the Wall Street heavyweight’s connection to Ripple’s expanding institutional crypto infrastructure. The move marks a significant step for Ripple as it pushes beyond payments and positions itself as a broader financial platform for institutional investors.

Brevan Howard Taps Ripple Prime for Prime Brokerage, Clearing and Financing

Ripple and Brevan Howard are taking their partnership to the next level, with the hedge fund expanding its access to Ripple’s institutional-grade infrastructure and digital-asset offerings. Under the partnership announced Tuesday, Brevan Howard will further integrate Ripple’s growing suite of crypto-focused financial services into its operations.

Ripple Prime will provide Brevan Howard’s funds with multi-asset prime brokerage, clearing, and financing services, further expanding Ripple’s footprint in institutional finance. The platform was established following Ripple’s acquisition of institutional prime broker Hidden Road, bringing prime brokerage services into Ripple’s broader digital-asset infrastructure.

“As digital and traditional markets become more interconnected, the need for institutional-quality digital asset infrastructure that enables a seamless experience for investors is only growing,” Brevan Howard Group COO Alan McGroarty stated in an official statement. “Ripple has built a differentiated platform that we expect will provide our investment teams with increased operational ease and capital efficiency.”

Ripple Prime spans both traditional and crypto markets, offering infrastructure across digital assets, foreign exchange, derivatives, swaps, and fixed income. Ripple says its platform processes more than $3 trillion in annual clearing volume and serves over 300 institutional clients, underscoring the scale of its growing presence in global financial markets.

Ripple Prime President Noel Kimmel said the partnership underscores institutional investors’ growing appetite for a single prime brokerage platform that can bridge traditional finance and digital assets. He noted that the deal further advances Ripple Prime’s strategy of bringing cross-asset services to sophisticated investors operating across both markets.

No XRP or RLUSD Mention

Importantly, the announcement does not indicate that Brevan Howard plans to purchase XRP or use Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin as part of the partnership. Instead, the deal appears focused on the hedge fund’s adoption of Ripple Prime’s institutional brokerage infrastructure, including its multi-asset clearing, financing, and prime brokerage services.

The latest partnership adds another layer to Brevan Howard’s relationship with Ripple. The investment manager was already an investor in Ripple and took part in the San Francisco-based blockchain payments company’s $500 million strategic funding round last year.
