Bitget Token ($BGB) functions as a multi-utility asset designed to bridge centralized finance (CeFi) with decentralized ecosystems. Initially launched in 2021 as the native platform token for the Bitget exchange and wallet ecosystem, granting holders benefits such as trading fee discounts, staking rewards, and early access to launchpad promotions, the token’s scope expanded via a strategic partnership with the Morph blockchain. Managed by the decentralized non-profit organization Morph Foundation, $BGB serves as the primary network gas, governance, and payment token for the payments-focused Morph Layer-2 network. The token operates on a deflationary model, incorporating a dynamic burn mechanism tied to both centralized exchange revenues and decentralized on-chain usage to gradually reduce its overall circulating supply over time.

Expanded Digital Asset Lineup on Coins.ph

The inclusion of $BGB follows a steady build-up of available digital assets on the BSP-regulated application. While Coins.ph historically hosted a highly selective catalog of major cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), the platform has aggressively scaled its infrastructure to support over 170 digital assets.

Background: Local and Global Infrastructure Scaling

This latest asset integration builds on top of significant operational milestones achieved by Coins.ph in recent months:

  • QRPh Payments Expansion: Coins.ph recently upgraded its local utility by linking its wallet infrastructure with the Philippines’ national QRPh standard, allowing users to make everyday purchases using Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and USD Coin (USDC) across an estimated 700,000 merchants nationwide.
  • European and UK Footprint: On the international front, the company teamed up with London-based infrastructure provider Clear Junction. This partnership allows Coins.ph to issue named virtual International Bank Account Numbers (IBANs) and utilize local SEPA, SEPA Instant, and Faster Payments networks to streamline Euro (EUR) and British Pound (GBP) transactions for its corporate and institutional client base.
