It has been a difficult year for several crypto assets, with Dogecoin among those facing it rough. According to Data analytics released today by analyst Cryptollica, the meme asset has printed one of the worst price performances in its 13 years of history. The token’s price has plunged 49.25% in 2026, falling below $0.073 for the first time in recent years. The asset currently trades 90.05% down from its $0.77316 peak, marking one of its lowest lows in the last 13 years.

What’s Happening to Dogecoin

DOGE’s current price is a 3-year low at $0.07277, driven by a rare extended oversold condition worse than the one experienced during the 2022 bear market bottom. According to the analyst, crypto traders rarely see this; it’s one of the most extreme lows the asset has ever recorded.

The token has surged only 2.80% in the last seven days, underperforming a softer, larger crypto market that has been up 6.50% during the period, according to CoinGecko metrics. This development sheds light on the wider picture of capital rotation from speculative meme assets into other stable altcoins.

The key driver behind DOGE’s plight is the broader weakness in the meme coin sector. Dogecoin, the biggest meme token by market cap, is severely struggling, a reflection of a prolonged decline in the meme asset sector whose market valuation currently stands at $25 billion, 80% down from the peak noticed in 2024.

DOGE Proves Resilience Despite Fall

While bears worry about weakening appetite for Dogecoin and declining demand, strategic crypto traders view the asset through the lens of long-term potential. Analyst Cryptollica sees this bottom as the best buying opportunity, similar to June 2023, when the asset crashed and later spiked hard. This is not the first time the token has performed this poorly. In 2021, DOGE printed the same pattern during its last cycle, when market dips attracted whales’ accumulation, which eventually triggered an immense market rally that brought a 170x rise in DOGE’s price.

As reported today by analyst Nana Valentis, DOGE attempts to build a relief move, trying to break from a year-long falling wedge as buyers defend its support zone. With strong support at the $0.069 multi-year zone, the asset tries to push above the wedge resistance, signaling a classic reversal that suggests an imminent end to the current bear market phase.
