Elon Musk’s X Lets Users Trade Bitcoin and Stocks Through Coinbase, Kraken and Brokers

Elon Musk’s X has made it easier for U.S. users to move directly from financial posts to crypto and stock trading platforms. Users can now tap supported cashtags such as $BTC or $TSLA, view live charts and related posts, and select a new Trade option.

The Trade button then sends users to one of X’s participating partners, including Coinbase, Kraken, Gemini, Interactive Brokers or Moomoo. Users complete any purchase or sale directly through the external brokerage or crypto exchange rather than through X itself.

X Connects Cashtags to Coinbase, Kraken and Brokers

X has expanded its Cashtag Partner Program to link financial discussions on the platform with trading providers. Coinbase, Kraken and Gemini provide crypto-market access, while Interactive Brokers and Moomoo cover traditional financial products.

Users can sign into an existing account or create a new one after leaving X. Account eligibility, available assets and trading services depend on the individual provider.

X does not act as a broker, execute orders or hold customer funds through the new feature. The participating financial companies remain responsible for accounts, regulatory requirements and trade execution.

Cashtags have existed on X for years as a way of following conversations about individual assets and companies. The platform expanded the feature earlier this year by adding real-time prices and market charts.

The latest update shortens the path between seeing a market discussion and reaching a platform where a trade can be placed. X Product Engineering Lead Mridul Singhai said cashtags now help close the gap between tickers appearing on timelines and the markets themselves.

Bitcoin, Tesla and Coinbase Get Interactive Charts

X has also expanded Smart Cashtags with a feature called Big Charts, which provides larger interactive charts for supported stocks and cryptocurrencies. The feature is currently available through iOS and the web.

Assets supported by the broader market-data experience include Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, Solana and Dogecoin. Stocks and crypto-related companies such as Tesla, Strategy and Coinbase are also included.

That makes it possible for users to check price movements and social discussion within X before deciding whether to visit an external trading provider. The company has not announced when the brokerage links could expand outside the United States.

The feature could be particularly relevant to cryptocurrency markets because X remains a major platform for crypto discussions. Posts from prominent traders, executives and public figures can quickly attract attention to individual digital assets.

X Pushes Further Into Financial Services

The Cashtag expansion fits Elon Musk’s broader ambition to turn X into a platform offering more than social media. Financial information, payments and trading-related services have all been areas of interest as the company expands its product range.

For now, X is stopping short of becoming a brokerage itself. Instead, it is using partner platforms to handle transactions while X provides the market data, discussion and route to trading services.

The company has also continued expanding its technology products alongside the financial features. X recently announced Grok 4.7, describing the model as an upgrade focused on coding and knowledge work.

The trading integration is currently limited to U.S. users. X has not provided a timetable for an international rollout.
