BitMine Ethereum Holdings Reach 6 Million ETH Milestone

According to BitMine’s September 28 announcement, the company acquired 17,362 ETH during the latest reporting week. Its holdings now account for approximately 4.9% of Ethereum’s total supply of 122.1 million ETH. The accumulation puts BitMine about 98% of the way toward its stated goal of controlling 5% of the cryptocurrency’s supply.

The company also reported that its total crypto holdings, cash, marketable securities and other investments were valued at $17.2 billion. This includes its Ethereum position, Bitcoin holdings and other investments. The figures highlight how the company’s treasury strategy has expanded beyond simply holding ETH as a balance-sheet asset.

BitMine Stakes 5.07 Million ETH for Network Rewards

BitMine reported that 5,067,309 Ethereum holdings were staked as of September 27. That represents approximately 84% of its total Ethereum position, leaving roughly 934,000 ETH outside the reported staking balance. Staking involves committing ETH to Ethereum’s proof-of-stake system to help validate transactions and secure the network in exchange for protocol rewards.

The scale of the position means BitMine’s strategy extends beyond accumulating tokens for potential price appreciation. Staked ETH can generate rewards, although returns vary with network conditions and validator performance. Staking also introduces operational considerations, including validator requirements, withdrawal processes and liquidity constraints, which are relevant when assessing the company’s large treasury position.

Ethereum Supply Concentration Reaches 4.9% at BitMine

BitMine’s holdings represent a substantial share of Ethereum’s circulating supply. At approximately 4.9%, the company’s position is close to its 5% target, making its future purchases and staking decisions relevant to institutional Ethereum exposure. However, a large treasury position does not mean the company controls Ethereum’s protocol or governance.

Ethereum remains a decentralized network secured by validators distributed across participants. BitMine’s accumulation can influence the distribution of ETH ownership and the amount of supply committed to staking, but its holdings alone do not establish control over network decisions. The distinction matters because treasury concentration and protocol control are separate measures of influence.

Ethereum Price Falls 2.97% as Holdings Expand

Ethereum was trading near $2,658 on September 28, according to Goodreturns market data. ETH was down approximately 0.71% over 24 hours and 2.97% over seven days, while its market capitalization stood near $325.63 billion. The figures show that BitMine’s latest accumulation coincided with a short-term price decline rather than an immediate market rally.

The contrast illustrates why corporate purchases and broader market performance should be assessed separately. BitMine’s acquisition adds to its long-term exposure, while ETH’s price continues to reflect wider trading activity, liquidity and investor demand. Future disclosures on purchases, staking balances and treasury valuations will help investors track whether the company continues moving toward its 5% ownership objective.
