XRP Takes Top-Three Position in Grayscale’s Leaders Model

Grayscale’s XRP exchange-traded fund (ETF) has secured the third-largest target allocation in the firm’s Digital Assets Leaders Model Portfolio, one of four strategies the asset manager launched Sept. 14 for financial advisors. The new Grayscale model portfolio suite packages multiple digital asset exchange-traded products into professionally constructed allocations distributed through financial platforms.

The firm’s Digital Assets Leaders Model Portfolio splits its allocation across five Grayscale single-asset funds tracking ether (38.57%), bitcoin (37.25%), XRP (11.92%), solana (9.63%), and hyperliquid (2.63%). XRP exposure comes through the Grayscale XRP Trust ETF (GXRP), according to the allocation table dated Aug. 31.

The Leaders strategy provides exposure to the five largest eligible digital assets available through Grayscale’s single-asset ETPs. It uses market-cap weighting, rebalances quarterly, and caps any one asset at 40%, allowing its composition to shift as market leadership changes. Grayscale launched all four advisor models under the same portfolio framework while leaving implementation decisions with individual financial professionals.

Grayscale Global Head of Distribution Laurie Katz described the broader objective behind the launch: “Advisors are increasingly looking for ways to bring digital assets into client portfolios without having to build and maintain allocations asset by asset.”

XRP Weight More Than Doubles in Bitcoin-Free Next Gen Model

Grayscale’s XRP ETF receives a substantially larger allocation in another Grayscale strategy. The Digital Assets Next Gen Model Portfolio gives Grayscale’s XRP ETF a 26.11% target allocation, placing it second only to the ether ETF at 42.34% in the portfolio as of Aug. 31.

The remaining Next Gen allocation consists of ETFs tracking solana at 21.09%, hyperliquid at 5.76%, chainlink at 2.66%, avalanche at 1.08%, and sui at 0.96%. Unlike Leaders, Next Gen explicitly excludes bitcoin and can hold up to 10 eligible assets. It remains market-cap weighted and rebalances quarterly.

The XRP ETF’s lower percentage in the Leaders model reflects the portfolio’s inclusion of bitcoin and ether funds, which together account for more than three-quarters of the allocation. In the bitcoin-excluding Next Gen model, the XRP ETF accounts for more than one-quarter of the portfolio and becomes its second-largest position.

Advisor Access Adds Another Channel for XRP Exposure

Grayscale’s portfolio launch expands the channels through which financial advisors can obtain XRP price exposure without holding the cryptocurrency directly. Grayscale Advisors will distribute the models to financial platforms, which can make them available for implementation in client accounts, while advisors retain discretion over how the suggested allocations are applied.

That structure arrives as regulated XRP investment products attract more capital. Demand for U.S. spot XRP ETFs has accelerated, adding to the institutional-access channels available for XRP exposure. The models use ETP shares rather than direct ownership of the underlying cryptocurrencies.

A separate 21Shares assessment of XRP’s investment case identified regulatory clarity, institutional access, measurable utility, and fixed supply as four factors shaping the asset’s prospects. That analysis also cautioned that greater XRP Ledger activity does not automatically create sustained demand for XRP, distinguishing network adoption from token value capture.

XRP is the native asset of the XRP Ledger blockchain network, where it is used for transaction costs and can serve as a bridge asset. Grayscale’s new models add another form of regulated exposure: its XRP ETF now occupies a top-three position in both the Leaders and Next Gen models.
