Conor Daly is one of the most popular drivers in the NTT IndyCar Series because of his great sense of humor, ability to connect with the fans, and his popular SPEED STREET Podcast on Dale Earnhardt, Jr’s Dirty Mo Media.
Saturday at WeatherTech Raceway at Laguna Seca, Daly was introduced as the fulltime driver at Dreyer & Reinbold Racing, which returns to full-time IndyCar participation for the first time since the 2012 season.
Daly will be the driver of the No. 24 entry. Dreyer and Reinbold Racing are also switching from Chevrolet to Honda.
Dreyer & Reinbold Racing purchased one of Rahal Lettermen Lanigan’s three Charters on July 22. To maintain a technical alliance with RLL, both operations would need to have the same engine.
Dreyer & Reinbold Switches From Chevrolet To Honda
The team based in Carmel, Indiana previously utilized Honda engines from the 2005 to 2011 seasons.
“Changing those relationships is never easy, I’d say,” said Dreyer & Reinbold President and Chief Commercial Officer Brett DeBord. “I think we see a lot of value in partnering with the Rahal Letterman Lanigan folks. We’ve met with them a lot. Really the early days of acquiring the charter, we met with Jay Frye and Bobby Rahal and the entire team, have been working on that all summer. We see a lot of value there.
“I think anybody that’s been in the sport can kind of see the complementary nature of that relationship, meaning our product at Indy, our intellectual property there is going to help them maybe in some ways. Where we’re deficient on road courses and street courses, they’re going to help. The complementary mate of that relationship is the driving force behind it. We’re excited and grateful to be part of the Honda family. They’ve welcomed us with open arms at the highest level. David Salters and Kelvin Fu if you and all these guys that have worked with us to get our deal done see our vision, bought into our vision as well, it’s a privilege to be with those guys.
“They’ve won the last several Indy 500s and championships.”

Dreyer & Reinbold Returns To Full Season Participation For First Time Since 2012
DRR will return to the NTT IndyCar Series full-time for the 2027 campaign for the first time since 2012 when Oriol Servia drove the team’s lone entry. On July 22, DRR announced the team had purchased one NTT IndyCar Series charter from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) for its 2027 full-time series return.
“Dreyer & Reinbold Racing is returning to full-time competition in 2027 with Honda engines, and Conor Daly is the driver we want leading that return,” said Derek Reinbold, DRR CEO. “Conor has raced for us at Indianapolis, so we know how he prepares, how he works with engineers, and how much he gets out of a car. He has shown for years that he can win the Indianapolis 500, and our job is to give him a car that lets him do it.
“We are building a team that contends every weekend, and Conor is the driver we trust to carry that effort across the full season. An Indiana driver in an Indiana team’s car is exactly how we want to come back.”
Dreyer & Reinbold’s Impressive History
The DRR team, established in 1999, continues the 100-year legacy of the Dreyer and Reinbold families in open-wheel racing dating back to DRR team owner Reinbold’s grandfather, the legendary Floyd “Pop” Dreyer, who served as a mechanic for the Duesenberg team in the 1920s. Dreyer was also a renowned race car builder, constructing cars for the entire 1931 Indy 500 front row.
DRR has been a participant in the legendary Indianapolis 500 since 2000 with 58 drivers qualifying for the famed “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.”
Conor Daly Is A Fan Favorite in IndyCar
Daly, the 34-year-old fan-favorite from Noblesville, Ind., also returns to full-time action after 133 NTT IndyCar Series starts during his career dating back to his series debut in 2013 in the Indy 500. The veteran driver has a best series finish of second at the Detroit Grand Prix in 2016. Daly also won a pole position at Iowa Speedway in 2020 and placed on the podium (3rd) at Milwaukee in 2024.
Daly has made two Indy 500 starts with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing in 2024 and 2026, finishing 10th and 12th, respectively, and leading 26 laps in the races. Driving the No. 23 DRR Kingspan/ARCO IndyCar in this year’s 110th 500-mile race, Daly recorded the fastest race lap of 225.126 miles per hour on lap 182.

Daly, who also served as analyst with the Fox Network on Indy NXT and IndyCar Series telecasts, is excited to return to full-time driving status with a familiar organization.
“I am extremely grateful to get back to full-time IndyCar racing with my friends at Dreyer and Reinbold Racing and Honda,” said Daly. “The faith that this group has shown in me is something that makes me want to work harder than ever before to deliver. We, as a team, will aim every day to make Dennis proud of the effort we put in to be competitive and continue the team’s legacy.”
The DRR team will make future team and sponsor-related announcements in the near future.
But for the many fans of popular Conor Daly, seeing their favorite drivers back in a full-time ride is reason to celebrate the 2027 season.
