Bank Leumi plans to let customers trade Bitcoin, Ether and Solana from early 2027, bringing cryptocurrency trading into one of Israel’s largest banks.

According to an anouncement published August 14, the bank and its PEPPER digital banking unit will offer selected cryptocurrencies through a dedicated section of the app. Galaxy will provide the trading and custody infrastructure, allowing Leumi to offer the service without building its own crypto systems.

Galaxy Supports Leumi’s Crypto Plans

Leumi will use GalaxyOne Institutional for digital-asset trading and Galaxy’s custody infrastructure to safeguard customer holdings.

“We are constantly working to expand the range of advanced financial services that the bank offers its customers,” Maya Ravia said.

The plan follows Leumi’s 2022 partnership with Paxos to explore digital-asset services. That initiative did not develop into a customer-facing crypto trading service.

Israel’s Crypto Sector Gains Ground

Leumi’s latest move comes as digital-asset activity grows in Israel and the wider region. Israel approved its first shekel-pegged stablecoin in April, adding another regulated product to the market.

The country received about $22 billion in onchain crypto value in the year through June 2025, while activity across the Middle East and North Africa rose 33% to more than $500 billion.

Traditional financial firms are also expanding beyond basic crypto trading. Morgan Stanley and Galaxy launched a crypto lending model in June, while BNY is exploring institutional crypto staking with Galaxy.
