It was only a little more than a year ago that Katseye first reached the Official Singles chart, the ranking of the most popular songs in the United Kingdom. It took the girl group only months after hitting similar tallies in other nations before the musicians became successful in the U.K., and this week has turned out to be one of the biggest yet for the Grammy-nominated outfit.
As Katseye’s latest EP Wild debuts inside the top 10 on multiple rosters across the Atlantic, the all-female vocal troupe collects two new smashes, significantly increasing its career sum. At the same time, one of its recent smashes rises to a never-before-seen peak and becomes the group’s biggest hit yet on the main songs list.
Katseye Scores Its Biggest U.K. Hit
“Animal” claws its way up four spaces on the Official Singles chart this week, running from No. 16 to No. 12 less than a month into its run on the tally. That marks a new high not only for the single, but for Katseye as well. As “Animal” reaches No. 12, it passes the No. 14 peak that “Pinky Up” established earlier this spring. That tune stood as the group’s loftiest-charting hit for several months.
Katseye’s “Animal” Rises on Every Chart
“Animal” appears on four U.K. rankings this week, and it rises on all of them uniformly. In addition to reaching No. 12 on the Official Singles chart, the track steps up to Nos. 14, 35 and 37 on the Official Streaming, Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales rosters, respectively. “Animal” is currently a top 40 hit on every tally where it appears in the nation.
Katseye Scores Two New Chart Hits
Katseye collects two new hits on the Official Singles chart this week. “Hootie Frutti” debuts at No. 16, while “Bel Air” opens much lower at No. 97, barely making it onto the 100-space list. A quarter of all the group’s eight career placements on the Official Singles roster debut this frame.
Katseye Lands Another Top 20 Smash with “Hootie Frutti”
As it opens at No. 16, “Hootie Frutti” immediately becomes one of Katseye’s most successful songs in the U.K. The track is already one of only three top 20 hits from the group, and it stands out as the band’s third-highest-charting smash so far, behind “Animal” and “Pinky Up.”
Katseye’s “Hootie Frutti” Is Also a Streaming Win
While both “Hootie Frutti” and “Bel Air” debut on the Official Singles chart, only the former reaches any other tally this week. “Hootie Frutti” also starts on the Official Streaming, Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts, opening on those rosters at Nos. 24, 68 and 73, respectively. Its loftiest entry point outside the main roster comes on the streaming ranking, which paints a clear picture that plays on platforms are helping fuel the song’s strong start. “Bel Air,” meanwhile, appears only on the Official Singles chart for now.
Katseye’s “Wild” Becomes a Bestseller in the U.K.
The Wild title track also debuts on two U.K. sales rankings, though it misses the main songs roster. “Wild” opens at No. 40 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and No. 43 on the broader Official Singles Sales tally. The downloads list focuses specifically on digital purchases, while the more general sales ranking between the two incorporates paid purchases across formats.
Katseye Brings “Gabriela” Back to Several Tallies
“Gabriela” also returns to three U.K. charts this week, though the track is not featured on Wild. The longtime favorite among Katseye fans reenters the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles rankings at Nos. 8 and 9, respectively. The cut reappears inside the top 10 on both rosters where it has previously reigned. “Gabriela” also reappears on the Official Singles Sales chart at No. 84.
